We originally was flying into Tampa, but I was able to get cheaper flight into Orlando and just rent a car there instead. I have rented thru Hertz in the past. I just called them and they said I had to do a credit check if I used a debit card. A credit check is not something I want to do just because we don't have a credit card.

Has anyone be able rent a car recently using a debit card without a credit check successfully at Orlando airport? If so what company was it and what amount of deposit did they put on your card?

Unless you have bad credit there's no reason to worry having a credit check done. A credit card has nothing to do with it. But some companies take debit cards. Since you have rented in the past I assume you know that with a debit card the company usually puts a hold on your checking account for the full rental amount plus something additional.

you will have to contact the companies directly to find out their policies.

Alamo at MCO has a very debit card friendly policy. You will just need to provide them a copy of your airline itinerary. In regards to how much of a hold they will place on your card, if you call them directly, they can tell you.

We always use Alamo. I do have a credit card but have usually used my debit card with no issues, providing you have proof of round-trip air. I don't believe there was any deposit.

Okay thanks I will check into Alamo. I was considering ez rental. It looks like they except but have a $200 deposit. I am not sure how good there service is though. Thanks for the suggestions

I used Debit card in May with Alamo. No issues and no Hold outside of rental costs that I'm aware of.

Did you end up being able to rent the car using a debit card, and if so, did they put a hold on it? I'm considering the same thing for next month's trip.
