I was reminded of it today while watching an old episode of What's My Line? EG Marshall was the mystery guest.

He was also the "Star of the Day" at MGM many years ago when we visited.

Do you remember when they had that there? That was pretty cool. :teeth:

DH and I went with a friend to MGM in 1997, and the Star of the Day was John Davidson- we caught his Q&A session. My friend had to laugh- her family had a running joke about how creepy they all thought John Davidson was. She found it funny that he, of all people, was the Star of the Day the one day we visited MGM.

He was in an old convertible in a parade, then did his hand and footprints in concrete in front of the Chinese theater, and had the Q&A nearby.

I was there for 2 "stars of the day". Mark Hamill and Howie Mandell (when he had hair :teeth: )

Don't you guys think they should bring this back? I think it really added to the "show business" theme to actually have celebrities there everyday. :sunny:

You mean like the real working film and TV studios... gone.

You mean like the real working animation studios... gone.

You mean like the neighborhood house facades backlot... gone.

You mean like the big audience-participation show of Superstar TV ... gone.

You mean like... Oh well...

Yes, I think they should.

Oh man I remember those days. Let's see, I saw the Olsen Twins, Joey Lawrence, Nancy Kerrigan, Howie Mandel a few times and a number of other back then stars. I remember it was exciting to get there and see who the surprise guest star of the day was.

I was there when Tom Hanks was filming "From Earth to the Moon" and I was SOOOOOO hoping they'd do a Star of the Day, and they didn't. Very disappointing.

I definately remember Star of the Day, I worked at MGM while going to college way back in.... :)

I remember that. We went during our honeymoon Aug. 1989. The park was brand new and I believe the star of the day was June Allison.
