We are looking at both hotel suites and vacation homes for our Orlando vacation next summer. We got a quote on a nice 3 bedroom pool home in the Indian Ridge Oaks plan. Is this a nice vacation home community? Is it gated and/or secure? The description of the house said it is 3 miles from the Disney parks, but we may only go to Sea World and a water park during this trip. Thank you for any replies :thumbsup2

Good Morning,

Indian Ridge Oaks is an older developement in a very nice location. Homes are not the big fancy homes in some of the newer areas but would be more than adequate for a great vacation. Furnishings will differ from home to home in any rental community so check closely for the type of beds you want, TV's in all bedrooms, amenities like a game room or hot tub along with the pool. It is not gated and there are about 20% or so of year round residents. You will see kids, a few pets, and the school bus in the area. As in ALL rental communities there will be foreclosures and a few really run down homes, but the vast majority are just fine. I would expect some very good prices for rentals in this area, in the area of $75-$100/night including tax and pool heat. Pool Heat not a problem in the summer.

The location is great for Disney but a longer drive to Universal or Sea World. However, there are no rental houses, only condos and hotels, anywhere close to Universal or Sea World.

You want access to I-4 East for those two parks and if there is lots of traffic on 192, in my opinion having spent 3 months in that area each year for 6 years, I would hop on toll 429 south for 25 cents at the Sinclair Road entrance and merge onto I-4 just a half mile south on 429. Slick, fast, no traffic hassles. To get to 429 is really easy. Turn right or West out of Indian Ridge Oaks, go a short distance and turn left at the 1st street where the overpass for 429 is just ahead of you. After turning left drive a short distance and turn Right on Sinclair and 429 SOUTH will be right there. Pop in $.25 and 429 will turn into I-4 EAST.

So, if you are looking for a rental home, (and we love them for the space, the private pool, the private baths for mom and dad and the kids), this area would work fine for you. I would guess it would be a 20-25 minute drive from your driveway to the Sea World Parking lot.

Good Luck

Ted

The first house we stayed in was in IRO.

We fell in love with the area! We have stayed for the last 7 years in that same ares.

The neighborhood was very nice. It is a bit older then the newer resorts but very clean and well maintained.
