I know there are mixed reviews on this resort but we are booked there for Oct. We've never stayed in a timeshare so we have no expectations & are cautiously optimistic it'll be a good trip. Does anyone know what area is being renovated & how this affects the rest of the resort? Are the pools good for little & big kids? If we are staying as an exchange to SIL's share, do we have to sit through a sale meeting? I really don't want to waste even a few minutes on something we have no intend of purchasing.

Thanks for any advice/opinions/reviews you can share.

We own at Westgate Vacation Villas. We have not had any major problems w/ them when we were down there. If we had something wrong, (I think one year there were ants) we called and it was taken care of. It is very nice and the condos are very large. We are usually 4 adults and 2 kids, and space is not a problem. (2 bedroom w/ 3 tv's!) The pools are very nice, there are quite a few. I think they all have kiddie pools and saunas along w/ the larger pool. W/ the exception of the main pool at the club house, when we go in October, the pools are not crowded. One good thing about the unit is the whirlpool tub. After a day at the parks, that helps you feel so much better!! And the kids love it b/c it is a big tub--I don't know how your kids are, but it isn't always easy to get mine to take a bath--w/ this one, they're ready to jump right in.

We have always been pleased w/ the condos when we have stayed and when we have rented them out. A couple of our friends have rented it from us several times. We are actually trying to sell ours now. That has nothing to do w/ Westgate itself. The problem we have is paying the maint. and taxes when we don't go every year.

As far as the renovation goes, when we were there last year, they were working on some units and the only time we noticed it was when we drove by on our way in and out. Our unit was kind of close to those being renovated, but we never heard any noise and was never bothered w/ it.

I don't know if you would have to sit through the sales meeting. Try to avoid it if at all possible and if not, just say NO! from the beginning. I know what you mean about wasting time on that. That is another reason we want to sell. My vacation time is too important to spend any of it learning about what they're building next and trying to get me to buy it.

I will end on a positive note: the locaton is excellent!! There is a stop light where you turn off of 192 and there are all kinds of restaurants close by. The best part is that it is 1 mile from the main entrence to Disney!! All you have to do is turn right on 192 and take the next exit (I think!!) for the main road to DW. This is also nice when you're coming home in the evening.

Hope this helps!!:sunny:

I own at Westgate. Was just there in March. The villas are decent, not upscale. I never use the pools but there is a pool in almost every section of villas. I have never had a problem with maintenance, any problem I have is fixed within a short time span.

Avoid their "maintenance" meeting. It's only a ploy to sell you timeshare.

Thanks, I feel more confident of our decision. Glad to know the renovation will not hopefully be an issue. We don't know upscale anyway so this will be super nice to us. :)

My kids are 10, 4 & 2 & just couldn't see staying in one room. We love the idea of being able to spread out a little. Thanks for the driving tip, good to know & DH will be happy.
