Anyone recently stay at AS-Sports?

I have just come home from a 12 night stay at the AS-Sports and was wondering if anyone else has recently stayed there. I have stayed there several other times but this has been my first time there since Pop has opened up. I was a bit unhappy with dirty walk ways & doorway, mattress's that dipped in the center (they did bring me 2 brand new ones) a torn bedspread, towels that were so old they were fraying, one day even got one with a hole in it! Drapes had stains and a hole in it... The plumbing has gotten so bad that not only was I hearing the sounds of when other guests were using the water, the pipes had air in them so I was hearing a humming sound as well. The sound was so loud, it drowned out the TV. When I complained about that, they told me that blgds 8 & 9 did have a problem and they were working on it (I heard it for about 8 of the 12 nights). I took some pictures and when speaking to the front desk, I told them I planned on sending a letter along with pictures once I returned home.

I spoke to some other guests while I was there and they said they had bedspreads from the Music , they were in the Basketball section of the Sports. I was in the Baseball section. There was not a single person that I had spoken to that seemed to be "happy" there. My dates were May 28th-June 9th... did anyone else have any problems?????????

I know the Resort is not the one that takes care of the bus but thought I would post this picture as well. I plan on sending this one to gest services too. This is a picture taken on one of the buses from the AS-Sports that was going to the MK. Seems the buses are in a real need of being cleaned.. all of the ones for the All Stars are.. not sure about the others... this picture is taken of the upper portion where the advertisments usually go. They have some missing and instead of cleaning where they were, they left the dirt....

It's been a little over 6 months since we last stayed at Sports. Before that, it was 1 1/2 years ago. We were very disappointed with upkeep and housekeeping both trips. (The only reason we stayed there again was because it was the only value available before our move to VWL.) I suspect it's partially because so many groups of school kids stay there. Worth noting: Every time we've stayed at Music or Pop, we've seen CMs painting and doing other routine maintenance. We've never witnessed this at Sports.

I stayed at Movies in May, and our room was in pretty rough shape. There was chipped paint on the walls, dirty carpets.

I am sorry to hear about the disrepair your room at Sports was in.

Just an FYI for future guests staying at All Star Sports:

All of the rooms at Sports are slated to be refurbished between June and November of this year . (2007)

All Star Music is just finishing up refurbishing all of their rooms.
The refurbished rooms are freshly painted. They have new carpet, new furniture, new bedspreads, new curtains, a bowed shower curtain in the bathroom to give a little more elbow room, new larger flat screen (not flat panel) TV's and new bedding.

Unfortunately, Disney has been having on going service problems for quite a while now at all resort levels. There are quite a number of theories as to why but hopefully they will get them sorted out.

i was there 2 weeks ago and it was perfect all refurbed.we ere in building 7 football. and it was 3rd floor parking lot view and was just great...i wouldnt worrie its well taken care of..our room at pop last stay was ready for refurb..so they all need it sooner or later..but allstars was great..going back sept 10 to 17 allready booked

We stayed at all star sports last sept. and they only real problem we had was the beds the sank in the middle. Other than that it was pretty clean and quiet.

I would tend to agree. I stayed at AS Movies 2 years ago, and had NO issues. I stayed at AS Sports in April, and found the same sorts of issues that you mentioned - I was not really happy, and was thankfully only staying 1 night!

I suspect that part of the service issues is due to them contracting out the housekeeping services.

The buses, by the way, are not assigned to any particular resort. The dirt is disappointing, but that bus could've just as easily served the Polynesian.

That does look pretty bad. We havent stayed at Sports in a while. We did stay at Music a few days this tip and our room was in great shape. You could tell our room had just been refurb because it still had the new carpet smell.

I should have had you walk over to see how dirty our walkways were! Kat & I stayed at the Music last summer. We were the first to stay in a newly refurb room We were escorted to our room by a CM since they were still doing the bldg! That was the best room I ever had (besides the Poly )

How could your room have been refurb already when they hadn't started yet I checked in on 5/28 and no refurbing had started??? At least not to my knowledge? I did see that one of the football bldgs, not sure of the number, but the one that is next to the food court, the first floor ice machine room, the paint was peeling off the floor there. I would pass there every day on my way to the food court.....

The first room they gave me, number 9329 the beds were sinking in the middle. When I called them, they switched me to 9330. I called them again to tell them they were just as bad. I told them for 2 nights it would be ok, but not for 12. They tried to switch me out of the Sports but Pop, Music & Movies had nothing that I could go to for 12 days straight. They said I would have to switch again 1/2 way thru my stay. They did offer to walk me around the Sports to "show" me other vacant rooms or just sent me 2 new mattress's. I took them up on that. They sent them up ASAP, which was about 2:30pm. By the time housekeeping came around to re-make the beds, it was after 7pm.. and the worst part was, the CM that took the beds up to me, told her in front of me to re make the beds and she said ok.. then never came back. I called housekeeping twice before they eventually came to do it!

I know the bus can serve any resort, I also know that the resort isn't responsible for the condition of the bus. The bottom line on the bus is Disney is getting laxed on things. When you are paying what you are paying to stay onsite, value to deluxe, you should not have to sit on a dirty bus.
They have a driver shortage now too. They had a white bus, older one, not a Disney bus either. It was one of the old coach ones with material seats. This thing was dirty! The ceiling had all water stains on it. The sign for Animal Kingdom was a hand written sign on cardboard stuck in the window. I almost didn't see it. I was walking to the stop from my room... the bus was sitting at the AK bus stop... but not a Disney bus that really threw me for a loop!

On this trip I also saw the curbing over on the bridge that connects the BoardWalk and the Beach Club near EPCOT.. all cracked and broken. Chunks of concrete were missing. There were also some shingle tiles missing from the roof of one of the Beach Club bldgs (closer to EPCOT). I didn't have my camera with me or I would have pic's of that too! These are maintance problems due to cut backs... Disney is getting to busy trying to build instead of maintaining what they already have in my opinion.

As far as the Music, I have stayed in one of their refurbed rooms.. they are really nice.. would have loved to been there again!!!!

Spicey.... if you can change... change!!! If not, be sure to get a refurb room .. if they have any by then....they should! I am staying at Pop in Sept. When are you going? I will be there 9/13-16th.. just a weeked for me that trip.

We have stayed in ASMo in Dec. 05 and then we stayed in the ASSports in Dec. 06 and we had a horrible time. I will absolutely refuse to stay in the sports again. We paid for preffered connecting rooms. We had dinner ressies at the AK RFcafe, so we treck 6 kids upstairs to our rooms and lo and behold no connecting rooms. We called down and told them of the problems, we were told that a mgr would call back. After waiting about 45 min I got angry and packed my stuff and my 6 children back up and went down stairs to the front desk, where I had to wait another 20 mins. By the time we got someone who knew what they were doing we had missed our dinner ressies and were very upset.

We were told they didn't have connecting rooms available and I politely told them we would have to stay at another resoort because I am not splitting my DH and 6 children up. They finally found connecting rooms. It was more of a hassle and inconvience. The mgr refunded the difference between the preffered and standard rooms because they had none available. She refunded it for one room. I had to remind her that we paid for 2 rooms with pref price. She reluctanly refunded the second room.

DH and I were shocked at the customer service. IF that was my business I would be going out of my way to fix problems like this. The customer service was worse at sports than the Movies.

We will be staying at the movies Aug31 -Sept 8 and I pray that they are as good as they were in 05.

You know I didn't even think to call, how dumb of me seriously if my head wasn't connect on I don't know but next time I will and they will get a call if the beds are the same but we are staying at Pop this time.

We were there last Thursday and Friday.............NEVER again!!!! We had room 6355 in Surf's Up!!! I didn't sleep for 2 nights!! I heard just about every one using the bathroom, shower and sinks. The kids were in the pool screaming until 1am on Thursday night!!! The room was clean enough but the walkways were disgusting. Someone had dropped Ketchup on the stairs on Thursday and it was still there on Saturday when we left.
I've stayed at Pop and whilst I'd stay there again, Sports is well off my list.
