Anyone read "Good in Bed?"

Does it pick up speed after so many chapters?

I am on chapter 4 and so far, I find Cannie to be a whiny cry baby, and I'm finding that the book is dragging. I figure that it didn't wind up on the NYTimes bestsellers list for nothing, but I really don't know why it did from the first few chapters.

I'm looking for encouragement to keep reading this. If it's more chapters of the same stuff, I'll claim defeat now and move on.

When does it get better? Does it get better?

It should get a bit better soon. In fact, it gets kind of "dark" there for awhile. I won't lie to you, this isn't the greatest book in the world. I liked it well enough, but to me, it is more like a beachy "fluff" kind of book.

Lots of things end up on the bestseller list that shouldn't:

1. The Devil Wears Prada (I really did NOT like this book)
2. The Lake House (James Patterson). I usually really like his books, but this one was just plain stupid.

Good In Bed was definitely better than both of these.

I liked The Lake House, so I hope you're right about this one being better.

I couldn't put down "Good in Bed". I read it so long ago I don't remember if it started out slow or not, but I love the book overall.
I'd give it a little more time and if still not into it, let it go. I found it to be very funny and a good read. Perhaps her style isn't for you.

Can you tell me what I "missed" about The Lake House? Was this a sequel or something. The whole way through I felt like I was missing out on a big piece of something.

Nope didn't read it --

But does it count if I "am"...?

this is a great book! It will def. pick up and be a "feel good" book.

(For those wondering, this book is not a how - to book. It's fiction, lol !)

Of course it isn't a how-to book. Had it been, either FOJMO or I could have written it. ;)

The Lake House was the sequel to When the Wind Blows, Patterson's most popular book, by number of sales. I can understand how it would leave you hanging if you didn't read WTWB first. It's definitely not like an Alex Cross book where you can pick up any of them and not have lost out on anything except knowing what the outcome will be when you read one of the previous books.

I read it a while ago and LOVED it!! I don't remember it being slow......maybe it is just not your thing. I hated all of the "shopaholic" books.

I also loved "in her shoes" another book by Jennifer Weiner (prolly spelled wrong). Her blog is really good too.

I LOVED Good In Bed. I read it quite a while ago so I can't remember if it started slow or not but I know it's on my list of favorites now. Give it a few more chapters!

Hmm, I loved that book, just read it last month in Hawaii. It seems like it did pick up speed about halfway through.
