Be sure then that you test drive the exact car that you'll be buying. A lot of people test drive whatever the salesman puts them in and then choose their preferred colors/options but don't test drive the exact car they will own. Take it out on the highway and drive it a lot. If the salesman objects, tell him you'll shop elsewhere. Seriously, some of them get all persnickety when I have wanted to truly test drive a car, meaning 20-30 miles, not a couple of blocks. I want it on the highway, I want it on the surface streets, including the rough streets and the good ones, the curvy roads and the straight. If I'm going to spend $20k I want to KNOW that it's going to handle how I want it and a couple blocks doesn't tell me that nor whether the seat is comfortable for more than 5 minutes (I'm pooh sized so this is a serious issue to me since I put 25k miles on a car a year at least).
Even if this means that you have to drive to the next town to go to a different dealer, do it. The amount of money, not to mention in this case your potential safety, is worth a bit of effort!! You can still go to the closest dealer for service (except any promised work the selling dealer promises, so be sure not to negotiate any that must be done by a far away dealer only....I typically get them to throw in oil changes for 2 years and often that requires returning to the selling dealer....not a problem in my town (Phoenix) where there are literally a dozen Hyundai dealers within my normal range of errands.).
Also, remember that online reviews tend to be those with complaints (especially places like edmunds.com). Happy people don't bother going online to discuss how happy they are with their car, lol. BUT...happy people will comment on threads like this about how much their love their car. So take the number of complaints with some grain of salt....test drive your vehicle extensively to be sure it doesn't have the pull others have described.
