anyone own spanx?

You can tell a HUGE difference...Spanx are great regardless of your size. I am normally a size six, but I still wear spanx under fitted clothes just to make sure everything is smooth

My mom wears and swears by Spanx. She even likes the Target brand ones just as much (and they're cheaper). Like a PP said, they smooth everything out.

As a new mom, spanx are my life! Seriously, if I'm wearing anything other than jeans or sweatpants, on they go. As far as comfort, they are more comfy than a girdle but you know they are there. The only time I find them uncomfy is when it is really hot outside, but I feel the same way about regular pantyhose.

What particular type/style do you recommend?

I have my son's wedding this July and trying to decide if I should wear Spanx and what will be comfortable for a long afternoon and evening.

Thanks

I love them except for the (eh-hem) whole bathroom thing. I struggle to pull them up and and down rather than to take advantage of the design. :rolleyes1

This is the one I bought for a beach wedding last summer and it worked well. I wore it under a polyester/spandex fit and flair dress and it smoothed out my "imperfections":thumbsup2!!!!!

Thanks for the suggestion. The wedding ceremony is outside in So. California.

me too! sorry but i think peeing through it will be gross!!! lol whos to say your not gonna pee on yourself? lol

i love mine- but mine keeps coming unstitched. i bought it for my friends wedding- pretty moh dress, but sooooo unflattering. it tucked and sucked and was great. i got the huger power panty i believe. goes from above your knees to just under your bra. i had it on all am, pm and evening. so it was very confortable. but with mine at mid thigh(mayb e a bit hihger) its stitched on the inside and the first one the threads pulled loose, same with my second one. spanx is offering to exchange it but i'll have to send it to them in the states at my expense. i already paid shipping and handling once from our shopping channel. that was about 15 bucks, im sure to GA it will be more. im at the low end of weight for the one i bought too. good thing i didnt go with the smaller!

I bought soe maternity spanx but have not worn them for their intended purpose. I bought a dress for a wedding at a maternity store and liked it except for how my umm....dimples ofmy thighs shined on through. She suggested the spanx and I did try them on with the dress and it was a huge improvement.

I have no idea how comfortable they will be for the 6 hours I will have to wear them, but I'm pretty persnickety with comfort with pregnant and they felt fine when I had tried them on. But they were maternity and will go completely over my belly. I do not know how the waist differs on a non-maternity pair.

I love my spanx! I wear it under dresses, suits, pants, pretty much everything. It makes everything smooth....I have a knock off of spanx, and that one is great as well....hope this helps!

I was looking for the one that is a whole body suit with straps and it goes below knees- they do NOT make it anymore.

I am sooo bummed.

LOVE them. They are amazing, you will look so much slimmer. And, they are really comfortable (for what they are). It is a bit of a production to deal with the high power panty in the ladies room if you are not taking advantage of the design ;) but the way they help your nice clothes hang it is so worth it. I don't like the knockoffs as much as the regular spanx, for me the spanx are more comfortable. The knockoffs feel overly binding. Not sure why.

So wait...you're supposed to "go" through some of these? Ick...I just couldn't do it! I have the Assets (knockoff brand by the same lady) footless tights. I bought them in the summer to wear in the fall, but then I got pregnant...I did wear them once post pregnancy, but they were highly uncomfortable. Early on I couldn't stand anything on my tummy.

I recently bought the Assets maternity panty hose. They're fine. I'm not sure that they're any different from any other maternity hose.

Yeah the long line bra (girdle) I wore from my wedding 15yrs ago had plastic? bars in it - it reminded me of what a corest might of been like with the whalebones in them. It was confortable for that day only - cause I had to have it to get in my dress - and I couldn't sit in it .

It did have a special trap door - LOL but it was hooks - who the heck can do hooks by themselves on their crotch? Obviously some man's design..HA HA

Target carries Assets...other places do, too, but that's where I've found it.
