Anyone order "Thanksgiving Dinner"

A couple of years ago I ordered our meal from Claim Jumper. It was yummy, but not the same. I will be cooking again this year.

I have a friend that does and she loves it! It is tempting to me at times. I have had the dinners with social groups that I belong to and it is a lot less hassle and much easier cleanup!

Not Thanksgiving but Christmas dinner last year. My in laws didn't want to cook and neither did I for 12 people so we just bought it from Luby's. It was good and nice to have all that extra time to visit.
I imagine we will do it again this year.

We ordered a dinner one year from a local caterer and it was the best dinner we ever had! This year we're going to a buffet. I'll miss the leftovers, but I won't miss the cleanup.

My sil used to do this when we had either Thanksgiving or Easter at her house. My sons are very plain eaters. She had potatoes in a white sauce, candied sweet potatoes, green been casserole. My sons looked at me like what do we eat. I had to stop them from eating the entire bowl of corn with their COLD ham. She told us she had ice cream cake for dessert. It was turle with pecan and caramel. My children went home hungry from Easter.

I took over the cooking a few years ago. she wanted to do it this year but finally admitted that it wouldn't work.

I have done that several times for Thanksgiving. Christamas no I love ham and can get Honeybaked ham that will get eat for breakfeast, lunch and dinner that will be done left

Sort of.

We order the pre-cooked (which you have to cook for like 3 hours, anyways) meal thing, that comes with stuffing, rolls, potato's & pie - from the local grocery store.

I then make some sides - like my Grandma's Creamed Peas (YUM!) and.... you ready?? Fresh Breakfast Sausage.... my youngest doesn't like Turkey, so we made this for him when he was maybe 5. Now he expects it every year. Makes me laugh. "Can you pass the breakfast sausage?"

Kind of. Dad has ordered 2 turkeys, and my siblings and I will split up the sides. Should be easy peasy!

I love too cook. But,for a few years I have pe-ordered food from a local restruant. They do a great deep fried turckey(about a 10lbs) with all the trimmings for a party of 10 and cost $50..Always had leftovers.Well everyone brings a dish.

If they bring pumkin pie or tater salad,I will confistace it!!:thumbsup2

My co worker's Mom is a professional caterer. She emailed her flyer out a few months back and I've ordered from her several times. She is making our Thanksgiving dinner this year. She's amazing!!:thumbsup2

We order from a local store "Top Tomato" and it has worked out great. My mom is the cook, but hasn't been well, and my sister and I hate to cook so catering is ideal for us.
Clean up is easy, we use disposable everything and just throw it all away, and we have leftovers to enjoy as though we cooked.

My friend roasts her turkey every year but orders all the sides from Boston Market.

We did one crazy year (2007) when instead of a HUGE usual crowd (everyone seemed to be traveling that year) it was just going to be 4 adults. So all of us working so much we decided to order from WILSON FARMS in Lexington, MA!

It was amazing! The food, the price, everything! We loved it! I will say it was wayyyyy more food than the 4 of us needed! But hey we did have tons of leftovers!

I had planned on it but now that the family doesn't want turkey, I'm just going to cook something like steaks on the grill.

I am still planning on ordering Christmas dinner for 8. No turkey there either - we want ham.

Last year we went out for Thanksgiving dinner, it just wasn't the same. About 5 years ago DH and I and our DD were not able to go home for Thanksgiving due to work so we stayed and had dinner with some friends. They had ordered dinner from the grocery store, but it was no where near as good as homemade IMO. I will say I'm tempted as we are looking at having 18-25 people over for dinner (WOW where am I going to put everyone?), but I like being in control of what goes into the food.

It has always seemed too expensive, but this thread made me start adding up everything I buy/prepare. It actually comes out not too bad. I've already started buying for this year, but next year, quite possibly I'll go with the prepared meal from Martin's.

I ordered ours from Gelson's quite a few times. Having an apartment kitchen, it is hard to do any prep work.

With Gelson's, they do everything and all you do is heat it up. The turkey goes in just like anyone else, so it tastes and smells as if I did the cooking for two days.

I ordered the turkey dinner from Boston Market a couple of years ago. It was very easy to heat up and everything was delicious. I was afraid that the turkey would be dry but it was very moist.
