Okay, I admit I have been a "lurker" for a couple years now. I've taken "virtual" vacations via all the postings and trip reports of others. Now, its time for us to really take a cruise! I've done a search on who is sailing next year -- preferably June 24, 2006 on the Disney Magic, but come up with scarce information.

I've convinced DH to sail Disney (we have cruised other lines, but never Disney). Our DD will be 12 and a Disney Cruise is her request for a vacation next year (okay -- I admit it with a little prompting from me -- we were at WDW in 2004, so now she wants to try a cruise). There are two hesitations for this vacation: (1) DH - not sure about Disney -- thinks it will be overrun with kids although I have explained about the adult only areas (for some relaxation). He's into family vacations but hates overly crowded areas. (2) Other 12 year olds -- DD wants to go Disney, but is afraid she will be bored without a friend (which we cannot afford to invite).

So, are there any other families out there cruising on 6/24/06 in the 10 to 12 year age group? I'm sure there are, but putting my DD in touch with someone else her age will help solidify this vacation.

Thanks!! :wave2:

There is a link to cruise meets further up here on the screen, I tried to find one for your sailing, either there is none yet, or I am not fully awake..

If not, you could start one..

Welcome Crazy2cruze! :) There are several of us joining you on this cruise! Its a double dip to Castaway Cay :Pinkbounc cruise, we're going to have a blast. Join us over on the cruise forum. I'd love to give you the link, but I have no idea how to do that.
I have three sons, ages 18, 14 and 13. Our soon to be 13 yr. old, was 12 on this past cruise and LOVED the Wonder. He loved it so much that we hardly ever saw him, except for dinners. He loved the Oceaneer Lab and made tons of friends. And that was only 4 days, so I can't imagine what a 7 day is like. You're going to love it, lots of adult time.

Crazy2Cruze,

Yes, come and join us!!! If you click on the first page, scroll down a bit to see the list of cruisers. There are a few girls in her age group listed. Remember, there will be more people posting as we get closer. Not everyone started at over 600 days like myself!!!

Tell DH that he will love the adult areas. They are truly adult, unlike some other lines. We have a teen boy, so on our last cruise it was if we were aboard without any kids!!! Yahoo!!!!

Hopefully you have told him that Disney does limit the amount of kids on board, even by age so that none of the clubs will "close out" due to overcrowding. Basically, there is a cap on the amount of kids on board.

There are plenty of family things to do. Unless of course your dd deserts you!!!

I'm not sure how social your dd is, but we have cruised 3 times with our ds who is an only. Luckily, he is quite comfortable finding new friends. He loves the cruise and still keeps in touch with a few kids he met from 6-04.

I hope you book "our" cruise soon. Remember on DCL, the earlier you book the more savings you will get. There seem to be about 60 or so rooms available in most of the cat. That is from the DCL site. I don't know how many rooms are "reserved" but not booked through TA.
