I just rejoined Weight Watchers the end of Dec. and have lost 13.6 pounds. Yes I do want to eat some yummy foods but I also don't want to go home having gained 5 pounds or MORE....from over doing it. I do know we will be walking a ton too....and some WW members that have gone before to WDW ended up being just fine with dining out. Just curious.....if anyone here has gone there dieting.

We just got back from Disney last Sunday and both my DH and I returned with pounds lost instead of pounds gained. I do think all of the walking helped. Neither one of us felt like we missed any of the foods we really wanted to have - we just planned. On the day we ate at Alfredo's for dinner, we had fruit & cereal for breakfast, skipped lunch and had an early dinner. On days when we had a big breakfast, we ate around 10 or 10:30, skipped lunch and then had something sensible like a chicken wrap or big salad for dinner. When we ate at fast food places that offered carrots in place of fries we had carrots. We did not eat a lot of junk (except I had to have cotton candy especially when I saw a bag of that wonderful sugary stuff only contained 100 calories - thought it would be at least 500 calories). Instead of grabbing cookies or pastries when we were hungry, we split a fruit salad from one of the carts. We skipped desserts most times except for places like Boma's where they are just so good... but we didn't fill up an entire dinner plate with goodies. I also stopped eating when I was full instead of having the last few bites because it is so good. We also drank alot of water while walking around. It can be done. We didn't feel hungry, we ate all of our favorite stuff and I didn't cry when I got on the scales back home. Good luck - plan wisely & enjoy!!! Let us know where all you ate when you get back and how you made out with the scales war!

It's a vacation, so I eat whatever I want. Part of the "fun" in WDW is the yummy food available. If I were counting calories all the time and worrying about carbs, I wouldn't have as much fun. I'm usually pretty active in WDW (go for a run in the AM, walk the parks all day) so I never gain more than a pound or two anyway.

That being said, I don't overdo it. I might eat foods I don't usually have at home, but I still eat relatively small portions. Disney makes a mint off of me at the buffets. I like the buffets for the variety and eat a little of everything but never as much as the other people I see with plateful after plateful of food.

I sort of plan on doing this. I told my husband I am not wasting my calories on stuff I could get at home or in this area..and surely NOT ON FAST FOOD TYPE STUFF. So I will try and eat small amts. throughout the day. I find when I am home..if I eat throughout the day..I do better than eating one huge meal followed by not eating for a very long time. It will be hard..but I agree too.....it is a vacation so I expect to splurge and if I do gain a couple of pounds..that type weight comes back off quickly anyway. YES the walking will help counteract the eating anyway...I figured that.

I don't actually count points while on vacation, but I do try to be reasonable. If I want a dessert or Mickey Bar I have it, and enjoy it. I do try to be very good at breakfast-cereal/fruit/milk, and I rarely have more than one alcoholic beverage during our trip. We also do alot of meal splitting. We started this years ago to save money and avoid wasted food, but now it saves points! Add in all the walking (we are serious about our touring!) and I generally lose 2 or 3 lbs (once even 5!) per weeklong trip. Good luck, and remember, even if you gain, you just start up again on your way towards goal-no problem. Even once you are on maintenance, you will have vacations or celebrations that will kick you up over goal, and you have to learn to deal with it. Think of this as a lesson along the way!

First off use your best judgement, you might surprise yourself & make better choices on your own. you will do alot of walking & drink your water. One of my favorite breakfasts is the Fruit plate at Kona. They will leave sauces on the side for you at all of the resturants. I trying to remember but I do not think they have alot of low-fot or fat free salad dressings. Check out menus on www.allearsnet.com & ourlaughingplace.com. Go to the w.i.s.h. forum here.

I'm on WW also and was worried about the same thing. But I noticed when I looked at the menus, a lot of places are now offering healthier food choices. Many offer carrots instead of fries, and salads with chicken. I'm usually ok with just sharing an order of fries anyway. Check out the menus at http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm#mk so you can plan ahead. I definitely think the walking will help. When I went in June I gained, but I hurt my foor half way through the week and had to be pushed in a wheelchair! I'm sure if I continued walking I would have been fine. Let us know how you did! You're so lucky, I still have to wait another 40 days!
