I guess I feel a little dumb. I can not recall any of our servers names. I also don't feel we have had the excellent service everyone refers to so that might have something to do with it. We'll see what happens this trip

We always remember our servers names....though on the shorter cruises it is a bit harder....

Anyway, if you by chance charged your tips and still have your voucher receipes......the names of your servers are listed there.

This is a funny thread because I always wondered how so many of you remembered your servers names! Gosh, I thought I was the only one who couldn't! We have been on the DCL twice and neither time could we remember their names after we left the ship. Actually, I don't think we even knew them while we were aboard much past the first day of introductions! I did remember the names of the nice dining table companions we had on our second cruise, but only because we wrote them down after we took our picture together.

I guess we didn't experience any phenomenal serving or shmoozing from them as some here have reported. They were cordial, but business-like. Hey, as long as they brought us our food hot and refilled our drinks frequently, we were happy. Guess we were easy to please.

I remember my servers from my DCL 12-27-03 cruise, and from my cruise on HAL's Amsterdam in June 2002.
We didn't cruise for 15 years before the HAL cruise, so don't remember our servers for 3 of those cruises. I DO remember the server on the first cruise I took DW on in 1984.....Wisdom on the Norway. Have lots of pictures of him in the photo album.
I do not however remember the servers on my first cruise on the Mermoz in 1980.......but I was single then, and paid whole lot less attention to dinner than I do now!!!! Besides, they only spoke French....so selecting your choices was more a case of just pointing at the menu. (which was in both english and french)

We still remember the names of the servers on our 8/02 cruise. They were awesome and truly added to the magic of the experieince. Our 8/03 servers were okay, but nothing impressive. Perhaps we were just spioiked the first time around, and no one could match up. Now, in 8/04 we had really bad, very unimpressive, no knowledge of children, servers. We ate in the dining room only twice. I hae absolutely no idea what their names were!!! We ate mostly at Topsiders this last time and the service was AWESOME. The only thing you can't get is lobster on lobster night. You get a better view, the service is quicker, and they love babies!!!

Glad to hear that I'm not the only one! My DH always complains that we get the worst servers on every cruise. No matter how early we get to the table, we seem to be the last ones served.

What strikes me is that I remember our head waiters from two cruises, PJ and Rita, yet we had less contact with them. Their help and great service made their names stick in our minds. I guess it shows that you really do remember "the good ones." :D

Well, don't I feel better that my wife and I are not the only ones.:)

I have never had bad service on DCL, but I still have a terrible time remembering their names. I am promising myself to write them down, this Feb.

Bad memory!

I don't remember ours, but that was a 3-day cruise three years ago, and we ate one dinner at Palo. I throw myself on the mercy of the court. :worship:

I remember their faces and countries of origin, but not their names. Will write them down this time.

We remembered our Ast. Waiter and Dining Room Managers (also Rita) names but not our Waiters. The service on DCL was ok but RCCL was better.

I couldnt even tell you their names 2 minutes after they introduced themselves to me!! I am horrible about remembering names!! I DO remember somthing about a waitress we had on our first Disney Cruise. She was SOOOOO annoying. It was some young girl from Isreal or somewhere like that. Anyway, she had horrible body odor and she kept say "you like me? you like me???" She would laugh and lean on my shoulder while asking me. I wanted SO bad to smack her in the head!! She made an effort to be charming, but she was just plain annoying!! (and stinky:confused: )

Hint....they do wear name tags so if you can't remember their names after they introduce themselves to you....check out their name tags.....

I have often not understood their names when told to me but once I read their name tags if figured out what they said!!!

After seeing the name badge hint above I just had to write that subject line...

Andre and Willie on the Wonder, and then Roland and ...uh,...something Hungarian (it wasn't Magyar, Magyar was his friend who served us at lunch oe day)...on the Magic. So 3 of 4 I remember. Mostly, we thought Roland was okay but had some problems, and some of his insights were worthless (Roland, this roasted chicken listed on the menu, how is that?--well, he explained, that is chicken, and it is roasted--thanks chief, that made the decision much easier), and I still amuse DS by doing Roland impersonations.

Had a great one whose name does escape me on the otherwise forgettable RCCL Nordic Empress (now Empress of the Seas). Server spoke only limited English yet he picked up on our favorites and preferences and communicated a great sense of humor even with limited English. Anyone who has had a good server knows how it makes the difference in how you feel yoou have been treated as a guest (like those Celebrity TV commercials) and not a customer. I always felt that the freestyle dining on NCL would defeat all that.

DD (then 3) fell in love with our server, Alex. She said he was her boyfriend. He kissed her hand like a princess every time she arrived for dinner.

Our assistant sever, Annie, brought a huge bowl of orange wedges to DD (then 4).

Unforgetable!

Our first server Chevron on the Magic "ruined" our children's cruising expectations. He had fresh bananas and watermelon on the table as well as our usual drink when we arrived at dinner. Every cruise after that the kids expect this even though we realize it is not customary. Gemma was an excellent serer and always made our dinner easier for me with the baby. My grls loved her and cried whethey had to say goodbye. I remember Piro because we had him on 2 cruises and he finished every statement with" AHH yes excellent!" My kids got a hoot out of this.
Now I just returned from the Haloween cruis and our cruisers were so so and I can't fot the life of me remember their names. If someone said them it might remind me. But our AS had such bad breath that my 2 year old wuld try and climb under the table when shetried to talk to him

and all this time I thought it was ME. since it isn't me, and there are others not impressed with the dining service, DCL needs to look at this. those of us disappointed are usually that way because we had it so good once. that means that the service we expect IS possible and reasonable. some of the stateroom hosts have better personalities than the dining servers. DCL....are you listening!?!?!?!?!
