My dbf and I will be living with his brother who lives like 5 min from WDW property and I was just seeing if anyone will be doing the same?

I've been wondering about this. Me and my boyfriend (might be husband by the time we get there!) plan on doing the college program, and we obviously don't want to live separately. The College Program website makes it out like you have to live in the provided housing.

How are you able to live offsite? Do you have to talk to someone and work everything out? I'm assuming that, if you do live offsite, nothing is taken out of your pay every week? I've been looking for these answers, but can't seem to find them. :confused3

If you get married before you arrive and both of you are doing the CP, you can request to live in the same apartment. They allow married couples to live together, though you can only live in the one bedroom apartments. If you want to live offsite, you have to find your own apartment and pay your own rent. Nothing would be taken out for rent if you do live off. You just have to tell them the address and reason before you arrive.

Yes. you can live off site. However you need to email them in advance and let them know. You are still required to pay the 200$ housing fee up front but you will get reimbursed after the first 2 weeks of working. Some people think that its dumb to live off property but I am sort of excited about it!! will you be applying for fall/fall advantage? or spring?

Awesome! I didn't know they would let married couples live together in the apartments. That may be a much better option for us if we can't find an apartment with a reasonable rent offsite. Thanks for letting me know!

I definitely don't think it's dumb to live off property under certain circumstances. I do like the fact that piratechick said married couple's have the option of living in the one-bedroom apartments together. But me and my boyfriend aren't the typical college students who want to party all the time. I want quiet and I really want to learn while I'm down there. We're both possibly looking to make careers at Disney, so we want to make the most of our time during the college program. :goodvibes

We're both transferring to a new college in the fall and it'll probably take me six semesters (including summers) to finish. I was hoping to start the CP after we graduate, as our wedding date is set for October 2013. So the plan is to finish with my bachelor's in Hotel and Restaurant Management in either the summer or fall of 2013, apply for the spring CP while I'm still enrolled, attend CP in the spring, and apply for a PI in event planning after that. I'm crossing my fingers that this all works out according to plan!

Thank you both for your answers! I've been really worried about the whole having-to-live-separately thing :)

I lived off property with my boyfriend and all I had to do was tell them my address and it was approved. I had to pay $100 in activity fees, which pays for the housing get togethers and the CP graduation celebration. I did have an issue with my paycheck the first week but I emailed payroll and they reimbursed me and fixed it for the future checks.

So, could this still apply if you lived on-campus at your college? The idea of on site transportation sounds lovely to me, but if I could save money by staying at my college (which *should* be really close to WDW) I might. What is cheaper? I won't have a car, which would be pretty inhibitive towards off-site living xD

So you still get to go to housing events if you live off property? That's awesome.

How far away did you live? Any particular apartment/condo complexes you would recommend looking at?

That was my questions too.. we can still go to all the housing events/ formals/ socials and all that stuff right?? I really dont want to miss out on the social aspect of the program by not living on property.

V-gan- how exciting for you and your fiance!! thats awesome that you could live together in the apartments!

we are looking at a complex called abacoe keys. its really nice and with 3 of us the rent will actually be a bit cheaper then the apartments would be!

Did you still feel like you got to meet alot of Cpers and did you get to enjoy all of the housing events?! Basically did you still love doing the program even if you werent living in the apartments? Do you feel like you missed out at all?

Belle,

I will be offsite too. We are moving to Clermont in June and I will be joining you in the Fall program!

I am married with 4 kids and there was no way my husband was letting me live onsite for 5 months! :lmao:

I am really excited! :yay:

Do any of the on-site CP apartments allow pets? If not I'm going to have to find a place off-site that will. If I left my puppy at home for 7 months, I highly doubt she would still be there when I got back.

You can't have pets onsite. Not even fish. That's why I will be off site. I have two kittys that I cannot live without

Hey Guys, so this my first post on the college boards, but I am seriously considering doing CP next fall (2012) after I finish getting my second degree. I am glad to see that at least two people have lived off site because they could not live without their animals!! I have a dog that I could not live without for even a few days and have been going back and forth on the decision to do the program and live off site with Kona, yes she was named after the Kona Cafe, or not to do it at all. I want to make a career with Disney and think this would be a great opportunity. Did you guys feel at any point that you missed out on the whole experience of the CP?? Seeing that you guys lived off site for your animals gives me great hope!!

I haven't done it yet but I think you get as much as you put into it. I am making friends now on facebook and skype with fellow fall cpers and I am going to hopefully be living as close as possible and its going to be hard but I am going to make it work!

I was in florida last week and found the apartment that i will be living in!!! :)

It is called abacoe key and its right by DTD!!!
check it out!! it is amazinnnggg and the rates are great!!!

Im glad im not the only one who will be living out of cp housing!

Does this apply if you are engaged?? Or do you HAVE to be married and show proof?

I was wondering the same thing about being engaged or married. What proof do they need? If we can't find a way to live together then my fiance and I are hoping to find another person or couple to split a 2 bedroom with off-site.
