OMG, I'm blanking on the name of the new park at DL...think its california adventure or something like that, right?

anyway, there just doesn't seem that much there that interests me. I would love to do the flying over CA ride, and maybe the raft ride, but not much else is doing it for me. DH says the same thing, so even though we have never been we are considering skipping it on our trip next summer.

anyone else feel the same way? anyone else feel the same and change their minds once there.

we will have a day and a half at disney and I'm almost thinking about spending it all at DL, maybe skipping over to CA for the flynig over CA ride. we plan to stay on property so I think we can get 2 day hoppers.

I'm getting so excited! its almost a year away and I can't stand myself I'm so excited about it all :) its been waaayyy too long since I was at DL and dh hasn't ever been.

You got it, it's called Disney's California Adventure. I can't say that I don't like it, but it definitely isn't my favorite Disney park. There are only a few attractions that I really like there right now. But the place is slowly growing on me. I started really noticing some of the details of the park on our last trip.

Just a couple more quality attractions and maybe reworking some of the areas and it could be a top-notch park.

I like the park ... I can have every thing in the park that interests me done by 4pm ...

which includes:

ToT (3-4 times)
WWTBAM
Aladdin
Muppets
ITTBAB
California Screamin' (2-3 times)
Maliboomer
Sun Wheel
GRR (1-2 times)
Mission Tortilla Factory Tour (I have to get a freshly made FREE corn or flour one on every trip)
The Boudin Bakery Tour
Soarin' Over California
Golden Dreams (I'm a future History teacher, so yes I find this interesting)

I personally love DCA-

Does it need to get better? Oh yeah but I seem to spend as much time here and I do DL-

Screamin is a great Coaster- Not the biggest and fastest around but still great

Tower is a good addition- different enough from WDW that its good-

Soarin' is amazing.... Need I say more

GRR- not a fan of that type of ride but still good-

Sun Wheel- Also a slow but fun adventure

Aladdin- Great show :)

Add that to the other attractions and it makes for a fun day :) -em

I love DCA, too. CA Screamin' is one of my favorite roller coasters. Aladdin is the best Disney stage show I've ever seen in one of the parks and I've heard it's headed to Broadway (in a longer version), Soarin' is wonderful, TOT has been an awesome addition, & GRR is the best river raft ride I've ever been on.

I will say that the first time I went in I did NOT like the park.

But, when I decided to really give it the chance it deserved, I came to love it. There is a charm all to itself at California Adventure. Its not fast paced, I love to meander through the park and enjoy the sight, sounds, food and of course, the rides like Soaring.

My advice is go and give it a chance and dont take someonelses views, make your own.

I agree with all the previous posts, and dont need to repeat... please go... its a nice and roomy and a nice diverson from DL.

It really grew on me. I liked it to start with, and love it now.

thanks everyone. I'm thinking what we will do is start at DL (we'll be there in the afternoon) and start the next day at DL and hop over to DCA at some point to do the couple of rides we are interested in. if we don't have time I'm not going to be upset. I'm not a thrill ride person by any means...finally started riding BTMR ad wdw a few years ago...just my speed! LOL!

I think you will have a wonderful time just spending a day and a half in Disneyland.
DCA is an okay park with a few nice spots but, for a Disney park, I found it very disappointing. You can spend a whole day there but it is not as beutiful, fanciful, fun, exotic or interesting as Disneyland.

I had fun at DCA the first and only time I have gone. Since I am from N. California it really reminded me of Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk in some ways or even a carnival. It was a little disappointing.

I think the concept is great but it's still lacking a bit of excitement. I would go back since it has been a while since we last visited but that's only because your tickets allow you to park hop.

I remember when they first opened you had to buy seperate tickets for each park and like the week before we went they allowed you to park hop. Thank goodness or else we would have one gone to DL.

Happy Planning!!!

At least Paradise Pier (which I'm not a fan of). The other areas don't have a carnival feel at all.

For my family, we had a great time at CA. But, not everyone's the same so you may not feel the same way. I figure that since it would be a first time for both of you, I say just go just to say you tried it once. If you don't like, at least you can say so based upon your first experience, right?

DCA reminds me of AK at WDW, in that it is a "atsmophere" park with a few standout attractions. My family actually enjoys it a lot.

DCA seems to give you a little of AK and MGM from WDW plus the pier, kids area and some CA themed areas. We really liked it--it was more relaxed and not nearly as crowded as DL. It was a very nice change of pace from the push/shove feeling that we experienced occasionally at our day at DL.

When you go there, you just have to remember--it is NOT DL or MK! Go to explore and enjoy what is there. Take the bakery and tortilla factory tour. Get a snack and sit along the walkways by the pier. Ride the ferris wheel and enjoy the view.

We actually did not get to go on a few attractions due to wait times. If we had had one more day, I would have spent time at DCA, then gone back to DL to enjoy the favorites over there. The evening parade at DCA is great! Lots of floats and characters that walk--they come right up to you and interact. The kids thought that was great!

Plus when we walked out of DCA, we sat down and got to watch the fireworks at DL from the concourse between the two parks without all the crowding of DL. We got to see the fireworks twice that way!!
