Anyone not in the mood for Valentines?

I'm trying to get in the mood.

I'm a 1st grade teacher...today will be the class party with 25 kids & their parents.

It does help that we have a 2 HOUR DELAY!!!
We won't really have time for anything except Valentine related activities!!

I am going to try & squeeze in a Math lesson.

DH and I are getting a divorce, so I was starting to feel sorry for myself. Then...I thought of how much I LOVE my 4 wonderful children and it put a smile on my face and made this day brighter.

I'm not.

DH and I had a wonderful weekend away for my b-day and I really don't feel like doing anything tonight. He says he doesn't want to go out, but if we go out it means I'm going to have to try to do something special for dinner. I'd rather just do some hamburger helper.

I'm not. Dh is in town for a few hours this morning I guess (so he says he's stopping home). BUT--- I'll bet he doesn't even remember--nor will he. My dh is a great guy and a great husband. Very loving- but he doesn't have even 1 ounce of romantic inclination in him. So, sometimes today seems like nothing more than a glaring reminder of that-- nope I'm really not bitter... . I will sit later and listen to my mom and sisters go on about the jewelry and flowers and such. I think they do it though knowing I never get anything-- they like to gloat. However, I married the man for the way he is 365 days a yr and not just for 1 day.

I personally think its another overblown, over-inflated holiday. If you could have seen the people in the store yesterday dropping huge bucks on flowers and candy and stuffed toys, it is ridiculus. My Dh bought me flowers the first year we were dating, I told him not to bother anymore after that. I don't need flowers bought on a specific day to know how he feels. Not only that but it is so hyped that those who are lonely and depressed over NOT having someone special in their life have a hard time today.

Well, considering we have a wrestling meet for my son from 4:00-6:30, and a track meeting for my daughter at 7:00, chances of a romantic dinner are nil. He did make me a card though which I loved.

I was in the mood for it, it's after all my 12th anniversary too ;)

But once I dropped the kids off at school and came home to find half the stuff I'd decorted for him in his work van tossed on the kitchen table (I'd actually warmed his van up this morning and decorated the windows...etc) I got out of the mood. I picked up the balloons for my kids goody bags though, so I'll just transfer my willingness to celebrate on them :)
