Anyone NOT going to MVMCP?

Tell me, is it the same parade through the day as you see at the party? Would be great if it was. We are going to the party on December 3rd- only because it's my daughter's 16th birthday and we got the tickets free on rewards points. Otherwise, we'd never spend that on a one evening event. If the parade is the same, we can skip that at the party and do up the rides with the shorter lines (fingers crossed). We have no interest in characters except to point and say "hey, there's ...."
Same parade. But it only shows during the day starting the day after the last party is held (so 12/23 this year).

If you want to see it in early December, the only option is a party ticket.

Still undecided. Went last year and really enjoyed it, but haven't decided yet about this year. Our 2 choices are 11/9 (first party) or 11/10 (Veterans Day), which I'm assuming will both be really busy. Haven't convinced myself (or DH!) to spend the money again this year.

We were there last year the week of Christmas and didn't do it and I'm often there when the Halloween party is going on and have never done it. I'm not a huge parade fan or stage show fan so there is no draw for me. I'm also an AP holder and having to pay extra to see a parade and different fireworks just doesn't sit well with me. Have never regretted it.

We're going for our first (and possibly only) trip Dec 10-15. My brother has offered to buy us MVMCP tickets as a gift. If for some reason that doesn't materialize, I am having a hard time justifying $500 for one evening. Considering that's about a third of what we paid for 5-day tickets for 5 people, it's hard to swallow.

The only reason I am considering it is that if I don't, we won't be at MK at night at any point. And I know that seeing the castle lit up, and the fireworks, is a big Disney experience.

We will be at WDW Dec 19-26, so we overlap the last two parties. I keep waffling btwn going or not to MVMCP. We had a not great experience at MNSSHP late Aug...rain and crowds threw us. Wondering if anyone else stuck on this decision.

We used to go years ago, when they gave out the buttons, and took the nice family photos that they mailed to your home--- now, we skip it every year --- just not worth the money for us, and our kids ( 11 and 6) usually are exhausted by that time anyway --

We like MNNSHP better, but are still holding out hope that they bring back the "Pirate and Princess" party --- that was the best !!

Pirates and Princesses was a blast and we had really low crowds compared to anything we have ever seen at WDW.

We won’t be going to a party either. We went to MNSSHP several years back and it wasn’t that great (to us) so we won’t be doing a Christmas party. I just don’t feel the cost is worth it for us.

Ditto. We are doing eight days in the parks. I don’t feel the need to spend another $300 for one more evening.

Did MVMCP a few years ago and LOOOOOVED the parade. The little horses pulling Cinderella's carriage! The toy soldiers! Santa! It was very magical. But it was about 20 minutes of an evening that was pretty expensive for what we got. Free cookies and hot chocolate were nice, but we had to wait in long lines. The lines to ride anything good (It was me and my boyfriend... he was staying at the Dolphin for a Business Conference) were really long during the party so we pretty much walked around and looked at decorations.. Splash, Space, BTMRR all had horrendous lines. Love the Christmas festivities, but no, I don't think the party is worth the ticket price.

Ok. Question for this thread. If going to the Christmas party (approx $500 for us) would be the only time we'd see the castle lit up at night, fireworks or whatever over MK, would you recommend we do it? Both of our MK days are party days, so it's either go to the party or never see MK at night. Kids are 11, 9 and 5. This will likely be their only Disney trip as we live halfway across the world.

We always see MK fireworks our last night. That said, I am not paying an extra $600 to do so. Part of my calculus for the decision was how beat up our children will be by the end of the trip, and that the last day plans might end up entirely scrapped. Last time my daughter burst into tears when wishes ended because she knew the park was still open but she was just so tired she couldn't stand up any longer. NurseNoa, the castle is amazing at night, particularly when hung with lights for Christmas. I haven't seen the new night show at MK, but I am sure it will be wonderful. If you decide to do the party, do it on the earlier MK day and plan recovery time the next morning. Perhaps don't even enter the park until later on the party day to preserve those little legs! Better to waste a day of park ticket then fall apart on a $500 night.

Us! We've never been and probably won't in the future. We pay for a 21-day ultimate ticket to WDW that gets us into every park, both water parks, park hopping and memory maker, but yet we are still expected to pay out for yet another ticket. For us, there are plenty of Christmas shows/events and decorations to ensure we enjoy our annual Christmas visit using the ticket we've already bought.

Our strategy exactly. We are early risers and early to bed, so this late night is going to kill us. OUr kids are 11 and 16, so they'll be up for the late night for sure. We plan on taking it really easy that day, having a big late lunch, then heading to the party about 4. We've also scheduled a day off the following day.

Yep, one and done. Thankfully, the last one is the day we arrive. We enjoy the Halloween one much more.

I am not going. The price of admission to it, the time allotted, and the number of people make it impossible to get your money's worth. In order to do everything that is unique to MVMCP would take at least 2-3 trips to it.

We're going when there are a few parties going on and we are not doing MVMCP. We just don't think it is worth the price.

Why not just hop to Mk on a non-party day? It would definitely not be worth $500 to me, but I don't live halfway around the world. I also think fireworks are overrated in general.

Since this is our first trip and our kids are not that old (11, 9 and 5) we didnt get park hopper tickets. We plan on doing one park per day, with an extra half day at MK. The difference between PH and regular tickets is almost the same cost as the Christmas party for us. And the only thing I would do is hop once to see MK at night

I didn't want to exhaust the kids early in the trip. The potential party night would be our last night in Disney, and the next morning we can sleep in a bit and check out.

I think it's too expensive for our party of 6 (esp since the kids are Disney "adults") for the time in the park. We are hoping to enjoy MK on a party day with fewer crowds. It worked 5 years ago when we went in October. Fingers crossed we get the same this year!

Your kids are still fairly young, and I would not do it. If you have already spent at least 4 days in the parks, the kids may be losing steam by potential party day. They will not know they are missing something if you don’t mention it to them. The combination of excitement and overstimulation just exhausts a lot of kids. Many do not really recover or sleep well each night and the tiredness and crankyness adds up.
