Anyone not allowed to use car seat on airplane?

I think the Eddie Bauer seat is manufactured by the same makers as Safety First and Cosco, which is the seat we just recently bought. I think as long is at has that 'airline approved' type tag based on this thread you should be okay???

I was just curious what the harness is that everybody is referring to. I am guessing it is a part of a booster or booster/convertible seat? My guy is only 7 mos so I am just new to the world of car seats. We have 2 convertibles but neither adjusts to booster when it's time. Just curious is all...

Thanks for all the feedback again guys!

harness is referring to the straps on a carseat. there are several styles that can be used as both a regular carseat (5 point harness) or a booster with the seatbelt holding the child in place.

I have used older Evenflo and Eddie Bauer carseats on planes, and an Evenflo infant carrier/carseat. I used it alone, without the base to cut down on "stuff" to haul through the airport. the FA gave me a hard time, and wanted to stow the infant carrier and make me hold my 6mo DD. I had purchased a seat and threw a royal fit. He backed off. Now, I realize that part of the problem may have been that I had 2 car seats in one row. the girls and I were in a row of 3, DD 2.5y by the window, DD 6mo in the middle and me on the aisle. who knows - I flew 4 flights that way and only had the one FA with a problem.

I was on a United flight from Chicago to LAX and a fellow passenger with 2 small children in car seats was not allowed to use the infant carrier car seat.. They had put both children next to each other by the window and the dad was on the aisle and the mom was on the aisle across from them. It was such a huge fiasco that the mom held the 6 month old the entire flight. I felt so bad for her... She was not pleased as she paid for the seat.

I have flown dozens of times with a car seat and there has never been a problem.. I was even told that on a flight with 3 seats across the middle the car seat was allowed to be in a middle seat. So I took the seats. As there are 3 of us flying together. We will see what happens... We are flying at Cheristmas time so sparks may fly!

HAs anyone had troublw with a middle row of seats?

I recently flew Delta with my infant, and other than a few people manning the gate being surprised that I bought a seat specifically for my DS, no one hassled me or gave my any problem about the car seat. In fact, on every flight we took (four total round trip), the FAs allowed me to preboard, checked for the sticker, and usually helped me strap the seat in. They were very helpful and accommodating.

That is nice to hear. :sunny: This is the airline we are flying out on Wednesday. I called the airline to ask them about car seats. He was going to give me the size limit but I told him that I'd okay. I've seen the same size seat before on the planes so hopefully I'll be okay. Every reply I have been reading said it will be okay. Plus I can bring the stroller right up to the ramp before boarding. :cool1: Now I'll just have to cross my fingers everything goes according to plan.
