Anyone make homemade salad dressings?

Simple Honey Mustard Dressing:

1/2 cup honey
1/4 cup dijon mustard
1/3 cup olive oil
Salt and pepper to taste

Mix honey with mustard and whisk in the oil slowly. Once oil is incorporated, add salt and pepper to taste. Very good. If you dont like these amounts, play with those ingredients until you get it how you like it. Its really yummy!!!

Our favorite dressing:

¼ cup sugar (or equivalent sugar substitute)
¼ cup Apple Cider Vinegar
¼ cup Vegetable Oil
¼ teaspoon Garlic Salt
¼ teaspoon Celery salt (can add more to taste)

Whisk together well until well blended. If you chill the dressing in advance, whisk well before serving.

makes 4 servings- easily doubled
My husband loves this dressing, even ASKS me to make it!

The one homemade dressing I make most often is a basic vinaigrette.

Take a tablespoon or so of dijon mustard, and put it in a jar with a screw-on lid (or, better yet, use the remains of the mustard *in* the jar). Add one clove of minced garlic, a sprinkle or two of italian herbs, a quarter cup of red wine vinegar and a good pinch of salt and some fresh pepper. Close the jar & shake to dissolve the salt. Add a half cup of oil and shake to blend. You can vary the salt, vinegar & herbs to your taste.

Then, here are a couple of good ranch dressing recipes.

From Gluten Free Girl:
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup mayonnaise (preferably homemade)
1 cup full-fat yogurt
1 teaspoon each dried dill, oregano, and garlic
juice 1/2 lemon
1 teaspoon each kosher salt and cracked black pepper.

Mix everything together. Taste. The dressing might taste a bit more muted than you want, but beware of adding too much more seasoning. As Cookiecrumb said, let it burgeon.

Allow the dressing to sit for a day. Taste. Yeah, that's it.

Use in any fashion you wish.

Serves 8 to 10. Or fewer. Or more. Depending. (Really, it makes 3 cups.)

From The Pioneer Woman Cooks:
* 1 clove (to 2 Cloves) Garlic
* Salt To Taste
* ¼ cups Italian Flat-leaf Parsley
* 2 Tablespoons Fresh Chives
* 1 cup (real) Mayonnaise
* ½ cups Sour Cream
* Buttermilk (as Needed To Desired Consistency)
* White Vinegar (optional, To Taste)
* Worcestershire Sauce (optional, To Taste)
* Fresh Dill (optional, To Taste)
* Cayenne Pepper (optional, To Taste)
* Paprika (optional, To Taste)
* Fresh Oregano (optional, To Taste)
* Tabasco (optional, To Taste)

Preparation Instructions

Mince the garlic with a knife and then sprinkle about an 1/8 to ¼ teaspoons of salt on it and mash it into a paste with a fork. Chop the parsley, chives and any of the optional herbs very finely and add to the garlic.

In a bowl combine all ingredients, adding other optional ingredients as you wish, tasting frequently and adjusting seasonings as needed. Chill for a couple of hours before serving, thin with milk or buttermilk if desired.

(Don’t overdo the garlic or you’ll be up all night, emailing me about your heartburn.)

Does anyone have a good honey mustard recipe....not a strong mustard flavor, but more on the sweet side....Thanks

I've made a makeshift balsamic vinaigrette when I've been out of the store bought stuff before. Pour enough extra virgin olive oil for a salad, probably around 1/4 cup. Pour desired amount of balsamic vinegar, I like equal parts, I think most people like less vinegar than olive oil. Sprinkle in salt, pepper, garlic powder and oregano. Whisk or shake together.

WoW!!! Thanks for all the great recipes!
I'll have to decide where to start first. =D

Here is my recipe for Honey Mustard Dressing...it is my favorite!!!!
1 C. Fat-Free Plain Yogurt
1/3 C. Reduced Fat Mayo
1/3 C. Honey
¼ C. Dijon Mustard
2 T. Prepared Mustard
4 ½ t. Cider Vinegar
Mix together and chill.

Thanks again for all the posts!

1/2 cup oj
1/4 cup honey
2 tspns. dijon mustard
1/4 cup veg. oil

Yummy, fruity flavor. I sometimes add strawberries and mandarin orange pieces to the salad.

I like to make

Raspberry Vinaigrette

use even amounts of:

Concentrated Raspberry 100% Juice (get in freezer section)
Apple or White Vineger
Olive Oil

add all ingrediants to a jar and shake well.
Left over can be stored in fridge.

This is one I got from my FIL:

Mayo and red wine vinegar
Put a couple of TBSP of may in a cup and add a splash of red wine vinegar. Taste, add more vinegar as needed. This is so easy and so good! If you want to dress up the salad a little, throw in some Feta cheese and some sunflower seeds or roasted pine nuts.
