I have to tell everyone! I am a candy apple-aholic. I love them! But I only love the really good ones. I have found my Candy Apple heaven at Downtown Disney. The Cauldron has the ABSOLUTE best tasting, crunchy and semi-tart candy apples I have ever had, and I know candy apples! My DH who could "take em, or leave em" is addicted since having one there. If you want a good one, the candy cauldron @ DTD is the place to go. Just had to share...enjoy! :rose:

Thanks for that great tip! I'm a candy apple fan myself...and I will be staying at a hotel in dtd, which makes it even more convenient! Do they have caramel apples there as well?
:flower:

OH why oh why did you have to post this! ;) :earboy2: I love them and I was able to resist them at the Cauldron last trip because I said to myself "Oh, those are probably gross" (ya, right), but now I'm going to have to get one!

My DD will be so happy to share one with me next month... they do really look very good!

I love them too!!!

Do they have the really hard crunchy glass like coating and have a cinnomen ( i forgot that is a hard word to spell- i know its wrong) flavor???

I haven't had one of those in a long time :lovestruc

OHHH...I really love candy apples, even better than caramel apples, although I like those quite well, too. It is fun to watch them making these apple creations in the window of this shop. ENJOY! princess: pirate: :earboy2:

Yes, unfortunately they have caramel as well, which I am sure are just as sinful! Enjoy, get one early so you have time to get more later on in your trip! I made the mistake of getting one then having to share with DH, and DS1 & DS2.

The ones I like are the sweet candy (cherry would be the closest to describe the flavor) and this is the one I got at the Cauldron. I would bet they would have a cinnamon flavored one. And YES, the elusive hard, glossy, candy coating is what these beautiful and tasty treats boast. Must have!!

I believe they also have them at the candy shop in the magic kingdom. I am partial to the caramel apples - we had them at the MK last year, covered in pecans - delish!! Can't wait to get some more!!

I have to add that I love them too, And I am going to get one Monday at our County Fair :cool1: I know it's not WDW but I love our 4-H fair.

Had them again this trip, MAGNIFIQUE!! Wanted to say, we were there with you on 10/6...you having withdrawls too??

I love a good candied apple. I prefer the cinnamon hard coating, and it has to be on a good quality somewhat tart apple. It's the mixture of flavors that makes a great candied apple for me. ::yes::

are the apples crunchy or mushy? nothing worse to me than biting into a mushy apple. do they also have the apples with all sorts of choc and stuff on them?...they always look sooo good other places but i never get them as they are so big i could never eat the whole thing

They also have those good candy apples at MGM -- by the Villian store :goodvibes yum!! We always stop there before we go to Fantistmic and Load up on goodies :goodvibes

There is a newly reburbished Goofy's Candy shop at DTD in WDW. They have the caramel apples. Not sure if they have candy apples, which are my personal fav. But anyway, you can purchase the apple and then have whatever toppping you want added. So you can start with say caramel, and then have it dipped in milk or white chocolate, then all kinds of other toppings, such as, oreo cookies, M&M's, Reece's, butterfinger bits, candy sprinkles, etc etc, then have it drizzled again with milk or white chocolate....so are you hungrey now???? I believe these are $5.50 each. Huge and big enough to share. And they use fresh granny smith apples.

They also do this with M<ickey shaped rice krispy treats, pretzel rods and marshmellows (3 on a stick).

YUM!!

Thank you for the tip! I love candy apples (not caramel)!!!
I will have to make a trip over to DTD to get one!
If you ever come to Boston I will take you to Sonsie for the Candy Apple Martinis! Not the green apple kind that are very common, these are red Candy Apple Martinis!

Mmmm....I love candy apples (the cinnamon ones with the glassy coating) but I haven't had one in ages. I will have to have one from the Cauldron in December. I had already planned to go to Goofy's candy shop to get an apple coated in caramel and milk chocolate - yum. Now I'll just have to get both. Can't wait! :goodvibes

I like both caramel and candy (but it has to be cinnamon, not cherry, ugh!), so thanks for the tip.

My DH loves candy apples! So much that for our 10/27 wedding we had candy and caramel apples for favors! He will love that we can get them in WDW. Seems that all you hear about are the caramel ones!

What a great idea, I like your DH already :flower:

I am a candy apple-aholic also! I love the ones with the sweet cherry tasting hard coatings, and if it has coconut on it also - it is true love, LOL. I have loved them all my life and even when I was a kid with a mouthfull of braces, I still managed to eat one (very carefully) and not break a bracket! I make them every year around this time for family and the students in my childrens classes - I usually make 4 dozen. I use Macoun apples for the kids and tart Granny Smith for the adults. A local (I live in MA) grocery store carries a kit that has sticks and the red stuff - you just add sugar and water, and have to have a good candy themometer. They come out awesome! I cannot wait to visit WDW in December and will definitely be making a jaunt to the Cauldron to sample the goods! Thanks Lion Queen!!!
