Just curious, with some talk of winter illnesses on these boards, has anyone lost any $ due to having to cancel an ADR (CRT, Fantasmic Package etc) because they had to cancel last minute because of an illness?

Was disney understanding about this? or did they charge you just the same.
Just curious. We have numerous pre-paid things planned at the end of this month.

Thanks

Last March when we were at WDW we had a dinner reservation at Epcot. It was in Norway, princess storybook restaurant. When we booked it we had to put a credit card on the reservation and told that we had to cancel so many hours in advance or we would be charged. Plans changed and I had to cancel our reservation just a few hours before and although we were told we would be charged $10 per person it was never billed to my card.:goodvibes

Not sure how CRT would be for a whole party but when we visited in October 2007 we had a breakfast booked for four and the night before our booking my DS was ill. We cancelled our evening meal at CP as this had been his choice but the breakfast was the last of our three week trip and had been the planned 'highlight' of my DD trip.

As DS was no longer throwing up but just sleeping it off my DH and I decided that I should take DD to the meal (staying at theGF so not too difficult) and then I would return to GF to swap with DH so that he could have the morning in the park with DD.

Got to CRT and checked in for two. I didn't mention his illness as I knew the rules and assumed that it was tough luck. We ate our breakfast, had a wonderful time and when it came to time to leave the server (wish I had his name) came to see us and said that the booking was for four and was that correct?

I explained the situation and he asked if we would wait a moment. He came back with a sword and wishing star which I thought was wonderful and then handed over a gift card to be used in the MK stores for the value of the two other meals. Fantastic.

As an add-on (and completely off the subject) during the wishing ceremony DD wished that her big brother would feel better and be able to spend the day in the park with her. As we left CRT and walked down main street to catch the monorail we met DH and DS feeling much better walking towards us to join us for the morning.

DD is absolutely certain that all dreams come true if you make your wish with your wishing star during the wishing ceremony at CRT.

What a sweet sister for wishing her brother better! I think this is such a great example of CMs being truly magical. I am glad your son felt better and was able to enjoy the day with you!

I'll share our experience with you - we had tickets for the Spirit of Aloha show. (Unlike other ADRs at the restaurants, the Spirit of Aloha tickets are actually given to you at the resort when you arrive.) Anyway, it was very hot that afternoon and our DD8 was feeling very nausious. She ended up getting sick, and I asked if there was anything they could do. We were on the Deluxe Dining Plan, and the Spirit of Aloha dinner is worth 2TS credits per person. We are a family of four, and they actually credited us all 8TS credits back onto our account, which allowed us to use them later in the week. They were very sympathetic to our situation and very accommodating. We obviously appreciated it very much!!

When we were there in Dec my dd had a ressie at BBB in DTD. The night before was our first night at WDW and we were too tired to go to a park, so we decided to go to DTD. Since we were there anyway, we decided to see if they would take us as a walkup so we wouldn't have to go back the next day. Well, they did dd's hair right away and the nice fairy godmother reminded me to call and cancel the ressie. I did call and a somewhat rude CM told me that they would have to charge my card a $10 deposit because we had not called within a 24 window. I told her that I didn't think that sounded right (or fair since we had gone to BBB, just earlier). I asked her to double check with her supervisor. After keeping me on hold for a while, she came back and said there would be no charge and cancelled the ressie.
