Hopefully this is the best place to post this...

On our recent trip to WDW, we stopped in Celebration on our way back to the airport. Needless to say, I absolutely fell in love with the place. I'm just wondering if it's as perfect a place to live as it appears? Could it really be utopia?!

We don't live there, but that is where we do our banking and post office runs. We have gone there a few times for dinner and an Art Fair. It IS a very nice place. The problem is that it is VERY expensive to buy a house or even rent an apartment there. I really thought I wanted to live there, but when we are ready to buy a house, I'd rather get more house for my money, rather than location and less house, you know?

It is really a nice place though. One time, Holly was heading to the bank early one Saturday morning. She had her windows open and a few people, separately, that were jogging waved and yelled "Good morning!" to her. She was completely impressed. :)

I know Teri, who used to post here on the DIS, moved there recently from CA, and I know a few people posted here on the CB that they were building homes there or moving there, but then never really saw them again after they told us.

And a welcome to the DIS. Make sure to check every so often over on that meet board to see when there is another DIS meet here in Chicago area. We should be having one probably after the first of the year sometime. :wave2:

I don't live in Celebration, so I can't offer info. Just wanted to welcome you to the DIS, msuspartan, I'm an MSU Spartan, too :)

Welcome to the Dis msuspartan!!!
GO GREEN!!!!!

Welcome to the DIS!! from another Spartan fan!!;)

I have friends that moved to Celebration a year ago and absolutely love it there. They say it's a great spot to raise their 5 yr old DD.:D

Hi msuspartan. Yes, we DO actually live in Celebration and really enjoy it.

We first visited in 1996, while living in Chicago, and said to ourselves that someday we would live here. Well, in 1999 I took a new position in Orlando and we moved to Celebration. It is a beautiful and fun place to live, but it is no utopia by any means. Your problems don't disappear and everything is not perfect, but we feel that it is where we were meant to be. It is a perfect place to raise our daughter. The people that live here are the best and they share the same feelings for the town that we do, which makes it very special. The people that live here WANT to be here and are quite involved with the community.

Celebration is not for everyone, especially if you dislike following some rules. We are just happy that we don't have to worry that our neighbor's house will be in disrepair, painted purple or overgrown with weeds!

For us, there is no other place that we would rather be.

Hi,
There is an interesting book written by a family that lived in Celebration. I'am sorry I can't remember the title. I enjoyed it and learned alot.
It is a beautiful place. I'd love to stay at the Celebration Hotel sometime.

My dream is to retire, move to Celebration and work at Disney!

I live across from Celebration just on the other side of 192. As others have pointed out, Celebration can be expensive to live. And it is not a utopia in the idea of all problems will disappear. However, those who go in knowing all the rules, seem to really like it. I know some coworkers who live their and just love the area for jogging, biking, dog walking etc. (after all there are a lot of places in the Kiss. area that don't believe in sidewalks making these simple pleasure difficult).

Those I know who have made the decision to move out of Celebration have moved not because they didn't like it, but more because they wanted places with more yard.

P.S. The bank in Celebration is NOT open on Saturdays!

I wouldn't live there just for that!;) ;) ;) ;)

The people jogging and waving really sold me though! Celebration is fun to live NEAR. I'm happy with that.

I have heard that it is a pretty place to visit in December. Is it true they have snow machines in the city?
