My Dh is looking for a new job and they ahve an opening in his field working for the Disney company in Celebration. I was looking online and found it is a very upscale place. Is it worth it? I have never been but the homes look great. Do all the houses have pools? Is there a community pool?

Any info would be awesome!

Well if anyone lived there, they wouldn't reply to this thread because they're too busy working to pay all those bills :lmao:

Seriously though, I don't know but when we drove by we saw 3 Hummers and that's when I knew I would never be living there.

Good luck :wizard:

I just read a book about Celebration...the so called "Disney town." Very interesting...tells you how it came to be and is written by a family who lived there for a year of too. It's called Celebration, U.S.A Living in Disney's Brave New Town. If you are thinking of living there, you may find it of interest. :sunny:

My hubby works at the hospital in Celebration. You are right, it is a very upscale place, but has a "small town" feel. We considered buying there when we moved but we couldn't find a house that we liked (we have dogs and require a pretty large yard for their exercise.)

I think there are a few DIS'ers that live there and they really like it! Yes, it is expensive, but you are really in the middle of everything and have great access to Disney, major highways, etc.

Good luck in whatever you decide!

Tracy

Edited to add: I forgot to say that yes there is a community pool, and I also sent you a pm...

Well, we moved here before the real estate prices took off! So, yes there are some crazy prices for homes, but it wasn't always that way.

There are four community pools. Not every home has a pool - not every home has enough yard to put even a lawn chair! You definitely would get more for your money outside of Celebration.

We love living here - it's VERY small town atmosphere - anywhere you go you bump into someone you know. That can be good or bad. ;)

Tell DH good luck with that job!

I love the town of Celebration. When we were looking to build in the area Celebration was at the top of our list, but we decided on Emerald Island instead. We always go over to Celebration when we are there to the restaurants, post office, or any of the cute shops they have there. It has such a great small town feel to it.

Unfortunately we recently got to visit Celebration Hospital during our trip to WDW last month. DW slipped at Wilderness Lodge and fractured her ankle and had to have surgery there. We did not get to see the town but I will say that the hospital is beautiful. It looks like a resort or upscale hotel. DW spent two nights there and received excellent care. She found everyone to be so friendly and helpful. the rooms are all private and big and have touchscreen TV/computers at your bed that the kids loved (you had to pay for it though).

The only thing I noticed is the place was so quite. We are use to big city hospitals with lots of people everywhere including on weekends. We were dropped off at the wrong end of the building and had to walk through it to find DW's room and we saw no one. Seemed very strange to me.

DW is recovering but the accident really put a damper on our vacation. I am still waiting to hear from WDW about it. Jay
