Anyone like Tony's?

We were there for Thanksgiving afew years back and it was awful, that being said, I want to give it another try despite the bad reviews. We are going in August and are finally giving it a second chance, we will see.

It was one of the better meals from our trip last fall. We went there for lunch and it was a pleasant surprise. The pistachio creme brulee was fantastic!

I had a solo lunch at Tony's on the last day of my trip last October and was pleasantly surprised! I had the mixed greens as a starter - it was really yummy, better than I thought a plain salad would be, the chicken parm - also very good, and the pistachio creme brulee, which was fantastic! Don't know why Tony's gets such negative reviews - I'd be happy to go back!!!:thumbsup2

We went last month as a walk up at opening for dinner. We didn't expect much but we had changed our park we were visiting that day and it sounded good. We were pleasantly surprised. Our food was extremely hot. I burned my tongue on the sauce from my shrimp scampi, which was pretty darn good. Calamari was yummy, not as good as Narcossees but much better then Olive Gardens. DH liked his chicken parm well enough. The only thing we did not like was the shrimp appie. It was bland and tasteless. We will be going back but making an early ADR close to opening.

DH and I have been here 2 times. The first in 08 on our honeymoon we LOVED it! the sliced italian bread and dipping sauce was great, we both had the chicken parm. and tiramisu and loved them! We decided to go again in sept 09 and order the same meal. The bread this time was rolls, not even close to the old bread, it was "ok" not great, standard rolls, the chicken parm was hot but they had changed the sauce, it seemed cheaper and more generic, I prefer Ragu or Prego to the sauce there, the Tiramisu was the same as before. The service the second time was also not as good, we spent 20 minutes after we were done eating for our server to clear our plates and another 20 waiting for our check. Maybe it was just a bad day, It was also during free dining :confused3

we won't be heading back there this next trip :sad2:

Ahh, Tony's.... How I have ragged on thee before....

I dunno. As a location, it can't be beat. Talk about "prime real estate" Tony's occupies one of the best locations in all of the kingdom. I have imagined for sometime now that they are going to "re-imagine" the concept of that restaurant and raise the quality of the food along with the prices. But, that hasn't happened. Perhaps the DDP has gotten in the way.

As it is, it's sort of a low rent Olive Garden. On it's *best* nights, it's just OK. And "just OK" might be good enough. Problem is, many nights and days are far from it's best. The entrees are pre-plated and left under heat lamps for extended time periods, and there's really no excuse for that....

Pasta doesn't lend itself to sitting out under a lamp, so it's often cold and the sauces have a skin so thick you could walk across them.

Should everyone try it at least once ? Oh, I suppose so. The service is often very friendly, and you can get Lady and the Tramps "autographs" (paw prints) if you ask your server.

"This is the night, it's a beautiful night.... And they call it, "bad Italian"......

^ Having just re-read what I wrote I few weeks ago....

I don't know. I always feel kind of guilty when I slam a Disney restaurant...

The bottom line is, some folks LOVE Tony's, and if it sounds like a place you'd like to try... By all means do so....

Food is adequate but won't win any awards. We go for soups, apps and desserts which are far better than the entres.Every 4th trip or so now as we hit the Wave a lot now.

Here's the deal.If you don't want to leave the park for some reason your options are CRT which is sometimes difficult to get and the food is not much better.CP which is a glorified Morrisons or Piccadilly cafeteria and can get tighter than a can of sardines.Or CS..blech.

Tony's does not pretend to be anything other than what it is and has great seats for parades and a quick trip to the fireworks or exit.

I made an ADR for Tony's for our first day in MK because we always end up scrounging around at dinner time. I thought we'd like it, but I haven't read a single positive review of it and now I'm second guessing my ADR. Anyone like it? Where would you suggest we go instead?

We snuck in and LOVED IT! We enjoyed it so much, we went back on our last night there! We really thought the taste and ambience were great

I really like Tony's and we eat there every trip. I know there has been a lot of mixed reviews on the DIS, but we have never had a problem. The food and the service has always been good.

We went in 2009 and liked it. Food was better than OK but not excellent. I say give it a try.

I just booked it for us and I am going to keep it...I am Italian and NO ONE makes their food like my grandma..so I don't have high expectations anytime I eat Italian out. My kids are ultra picky eaters and I figure how many times can they have hot dogs and pizza? I figure pasta would be a nice change. I didn't see a kids menu but figure they can get pasta?

When I was in WDW this past November, we had dinner at Tony's our first night. After making the ADR, I was scared by all of the negative reviews and went in with low expectations.

However, my family ended up having a very nice dinner. The food was nothing phenomenal, but it was good. I really enjoyed the view of Main Street USA and the theming of the restaurant. If you're anything like me, on your first night of the trip, you'll have so much pixie dust in your eyes that you won't be able to help having a good time :)

We stumbled upon Tony's sort of by mistake on our honeymoon and ended up getting the table in the back where you can see Lady and the Tramp in the background. It was really a sweet experience!

I, too am Italian, and I have the same outlook on eating Italian food anywhere except my Noni's kitchen. Tony's insn't bad though. I will say, the breadsticks feel like they could break your teeth, but we did enjoy our spaghetti and meatballs. We also really love their desserts! On our honeymoon, they made a special sundae for us with oreo-type ice cream, hot fudge and mickey sprinkles. YUMMY! On our last trip we had the "Chocolate Bomb" and the Cheesecake. It was amazing!

Best of luck- and enjoy!!

Thank you :)
I think we will be safe with the Spaghetti..if not there is always the pizza..LOL

I just booked it for July because my daughter (who is currently at Disney on their honeymoon) ate there and said it was good and the atmosphere was great. Hopefully, we will like it.

We don't park hop and the sit down dinner options at MK are few. I too had low expectations due to reviews and was very pleasantly surprised. The location was great and enjoyed app., salad, chicken parm. and tira misu. Happy Mommy!:thumbsup2
