Next year, I may be going with friends who are kinda meat & spud kinda folk. I noticed Captain's Grill at Yacht Clb had steak for them and crab legs for me, the seafood kinda gal. Anyone been there before? Is it a good break spot when at Epcot?

We tried Captain's Grille for the first time a couple weeks ago and were, on the whole, pleased with our meal. DH had the strip steak (excellent!) with mashed potatoes (horrid, very dry and lukewarm); I had the trout topped with some sort of vegetable concoction (the olive tapenade was very salty). The ceasar salad was HUGE, enough for two to share, and wonderfully tasty.

Did not see anyone eating crab legs, so I can't comment on how they looked. We had just eaten at the Beach Club's clam bake restaurant the night before and had OD'd on crab legs (if that's even possible), so I wanted something different this night.

It is a great spot for escaping some of the busy-ness of the parks, and super convenient when returning from a day at Epcot or the Studios. Our reservation wasn't until 8:30, and there were only 4 or 5 other tables being used. The waitstaff did say earlier was very busy.

Enjoy!

We ate there with a bunch of family before our wedding down there last year and everyone loved it. I can't remember exactly what I had, but it was very good, and I heard no complaints about any of the food from others. We had dinner about 5:30 and the restaurant wasn't very full at all, maybe 7-8 other tables, so we had a great service.

Our family ate there in March 08. It was a good meal and both of my teens were satisfied. 3of the 4 if not everyone ( I can't remember, Dh will sometimes order a steak but is the adventurous one ) ordered steaks and they were all great.

Service was good too and the resturant was not overly busy. I think it is a hidden gem at the Yacht club.

Enjoy!!!

We tried eating there on our most recent trip to the World and were disappointed to find that it was closed in the mid-afternoon. I would be sure of the hours ahead of time if you plan to walk over without an ADR. :thumbsup2

I know that Captain's Grill is a very "locals" restaurant and one of the supposed "hidden gems" at WDW. For the price and atmosphere, I'd definitely give it a try. :)

We ate there for my daughters birthdays. They had the crab legs and liked them a lot. The service was not very good. I have twins that were both celebrating birthdays and they only brought out a birthday dessert for one of them, when I told them they were both celebrating he just walked away and never brought out another dessert. My steak was over cooked and sent back. It took 15 minutes to get it back out. When I got it back it was grey, not very good looking. Aside from that the rest of my family really enjoyed the meal, but I would not recommend it for any type of special occasion.

DH & I went there in July '08 for a "Date Night"...

I wish we had just walked to Epcot and 'used' our TS at Le Cellier or somewhere there...

Not that it was BAD....

We were seated...and the tables were such close proximity to each other...and another couple...that we felt almost like we were dining with them...it was a bit...well....odd at first...

(especially for a supposed 'date' night)

Finally...what the heck.....we just struck up a conversation with the other couple...they were nice...

Meanwhile a 10 top with youngsters was sat RIGHT nearby...(why do that when the restaurant was pretty much empty?)

The food was Okay...I had the steak (prime rib?) DH had some kind of fish.

I probably won't go back. Maybe they have improved since our visit...

Hugs,
Mary
