Anyone know why entire cabin category would be removed from booking?

I am looking at a cruise for Sept. 2016 and saw at least 6 available rooms in category 6B including 5190 & 5192 which I planned to book for my family. I actually had previously booked these 2 cabins for this month, but had to cancel several months back. Anyway, I had been checking the pricing as I waited for the school calendar to come out and was ready to pull the trigger on booking. I was able to book the first room, but not the connecting room. Once the first room was chosen the category completely disappeared. I have been checking back since then and still not showing up. Why would that be? Will it eventually come back? Since it is a year out do they just want to book all the other categories before booking any more in that category? Just wondering if I should cancel the one I have booked and look at other categories all together.

I'd suggest calling DCL and talking to a CM there. When booking multiple rooms, it's often more efficient for them to do it manually, rather than you booking each one separately.

Sometimes even though multiple staterooms in a category are open, there's only enough lifeboat capacity for 1 of them to be booked. Staterooms sometimes sail empty because there's no more room in the lifeboat. So it could be that even though you had a few staterooms to choose from, only 1 of the could be booked. It's worth a call to DCL though.

Another possibility is that there's only 1 room left in that category left for sale. For example, if one passenger with a confirmed booking in that category has a GTY booking, they have a room confirmed in that category, but not any particular room. They may have 2 rooms that are currently unassigned, but once you booked one of them, the other becomes unavailable as well because it's needed for the GTY booking. In this case, Disney might be able to fix it on the phone, as they can always bump the GTY booking to a higher category as part of the terms for that kind of booking, although they may not always do so as that effectively means they sold a higher category room at the lower category's price.

Thanks for your responses. I was actually booking through Costco and was on the phone with them. They were not sure why it was happening and tried to call Disney directly and when they came back on the line with me all they could tell me was that the category was not available right now. I will try calling Disney directly to try to understand better what I need to do. I know it's kind of silly, but I really had my heart set on those 2 cabins out of those I saw left.

We recently added someone to my parents reservation. A similar issue... There was no room in the lifeboat. We had to give up our connecting rooms so my parents could get the extra person in there room. They are now on a different deck. It was the only way to get that extra person to fit (holiday cruise, so PIF was early, and less likely for anything else to open up).
