Hi - My head is spinng  There seems to be more discount info on rental cars then anything else. I've checked Alamo and National. Alamo is coming in significantly cheaper then National for a minivan - but for a full size - they're equal. I have 2 questions - do we really need the minivan (had one before nd loved it) traveling with 2 adults and 2 children (dd4 and ds 10 months). We'll have a pack-and-play in tow along with the bags. Or can we manage a full size (we'll be traveling to Ft. Myers beofre WDW)? Second question - it seems that there are more positive ratings for National - so does anyone know how to get the best deal there? I've entered the discount codes etc - but wondered if I'm just missing something? Why is that minivan so much more at National? Thanks!!!

National supposedly is catering to more business travelers so that may be something. I don't know about the minivans Alamo carries but I know National carries Grand Caravans with the extra room in the back. Not all rental companies do. Some just carry the standard Caravan. With 6 people and bags, I needed to extra room. I booked with National, paid about $30 more than Dollar who was cheapest at the time, but codes came out closer to my travel dates and National ended up being cheaper than Dollar by about $5 and I got my extended van.

When are you travelling? Unlike airfare, you can cancel a rental car ressie up to 24 hoursi n advance with no penalty.

Keep checking. New codes for my June trip just came out from National early this week and I saved money by watching for those. You might just have to wait until you get closer to your travel dates to get the really good deals.

Now, about travelling with 4 people...You could probably get by with a full size car unless you have a lot of bags with that Pack N Play. But it's up to you how much you want to spend. I have a 6 and 7 year old and we always get an internediate for when we stay just the 4 of us.

Thank you Zulaya - I appreciate the info :D We're going to be in the Orlando area the end of Oct until first week of Nov. So I'll probally keep checking. I've read some negative things about Alamo and don't need the worry about a car rental on our long awaited vacation!! Thanks again!!

Been flying into MCO and treking over to Fort Myers and back for 9 years with
the two boys ever since they were 6 months old. Suggest a MINI VAN,
the more room you can buy the better, for What?
Cooler bought at Publix off Rte 4, Pack-and-play, Kid's games back packs,
etc., OH ! by the way the Diaper change on RTE 4 or Rte 75 in the middle of a thunder storm or down pour., the middle seat folds down.
I suggest you lock in a minivan ASAP, while the rates are low, and like stated before me, you can cancel no charge if you call direct with the right codes.
We did DOLLAR for $199 plus Tax for a week last year and this year with boys older we are going with Full Size.
If you do decide on a Full Size go to your local dealership of the car your renting and take all of the bags for you trip plus the Pack-and-Play. Just did such today.
Some cars are long in the trunk but not very tall and the sides are not like a van the wheel wells shorten half of the width of the trunk.

ENJOY!

THE MAGIC HAPPEN!!!

MK Familystone - Thank you so much - we're taking your advice and have locked in on a minivan at Dollar. Hope fully a discount will come up for this - it's more than Alamo but cheaper then National. Thanks again!!:p
