Gluten comes from flours.
Since chocolate chips are not made of flour, there is NO Gluten in them.
The people debating this obviously do not have a clue what they are talking about!
This is bad information! Just because one of the ingredients is not flour, does not mean that the chips are gluten-free. If the processing plant makes another product that contains an ingredient made from wheat, rye, or barley there can be cross-contamination.
You cannot run the chips on a conveyor belt that has been used for another product containing gluten unless it has been thoroughly cleaned. Unless the product says gluten-free on the bag, or you have directly contacted the manufacturer, it is never a good idea to assume that the product does not contain gluten in some form.
