DS has an ipod touch with a cracked screen. We have the extended warranty that covers accidental damage, so I thought he should just take it and get a new one to replace it. He has replaced it once before when it got dropped in the wet grass(almost 2 years ago) and Itunes would not allow him to put his apps and music on the new one. He had to re-accumulate stuff, and he doesn't want to do that again.

Is there a way he can take the stuff OFF his Ipod and then put it on the new one? He claims that Itunes has made it tough to transfer because people were "sharing" accounts and apps.

I'm surprised that Itunes wouldn't let him put it on the new device, we had the opposite problem here, though it was with cell phones.
I got a new iphone, and my husband is using my old one. They replaced the sim card and everything so it was basically just a blank slate. He created an itunes account to set it up (using a different e-mail than I used for mine and everything), but I guess because it was on the same computer, itunes automatically just changed the e-mail and password on my account to his. Now when ever he syncs his phone he gets all my contacts and apps, and when I sync mine I get his. It's super annoying!
So I would say that you just sync the new one to itunes and it will put everything on there, but maybe for some reason it's different when it's not a phone? I know that I didn't have to buy all my music and apps again...I even got stuck with some I didn't buy!

That is odd-DS15 and DD15 have IPods and use the same computer and have separate accounts/playlists, etc.
