My DH who freaks out if our kids take one crumb of food out of the kitchen, took a glass of kool-aid into the family room and proceeded to spill it all over the carpet! :sad2: We have tried resolve, but the carpet still looks pink. Does anyone have any tricks that might work? Thanks!

I had great luck getting a red juice stain out of the floor of the car with Power Shot.

I have also used Oxy Clean Carpet in the past with great success.

Good luck!

I used a can of Spot Shot when my DH left a wet box on our new carpet and it left black ink everywhere. It worked great, no stain.
I also heard but have never tried using an iron and dawn dishwashing soap.
I googled it and here are the instructions:

Start with Dawn dishwashing detergent - the original blue type. Add five or six drops to two cups of warm water. Dampen a white cotton cloth with this solution and lay it over the stain. Then place a clothes iron on top of it, set on "low".

Let this sit for fifteen minutes, and don't press down. The red stain will start to wick up into the cloth. You should see red on the cloth. Fold it to use a clean part or apply a new cloth, and repeat the process.

It takes patience to get red stains out of carpet, but even year-old Kool Aid stains have been removed using this method. Repeat the process again and again until there is no more transfer of the red stain to the cloth. Rinse the spot with water, blot it up, and dry it quickly. Quick drying prevents any stain deeper down from wicking up to the surface.

To summarize: use clean white cotton cloth (several), low heat, and don't press or rub. Let the color wick up into the cloth at its own rate, then rinse and dry the area quickly. You can, at the very least, lighten Kool Aid stains and other red stains in carpet using this technique.

Good Luck.

Clean but old cloth diapers are perfect for using reshoes suggestions.

You don't get Kool-aid out of a carpet - you get it out of the pitcher :teeth:

Sorry about that. :)

:rotfl2: You and my DH are cut from the same mold! He'll be disappointed he didn't come out with that one first! Thanks for the laugh! :lmao:

Let us know how it works! I have an old Sunkist stain that I've been wondering how to tackle. The only difference is that my spot is orange instead of red. ;)

Sorry I can't help with getting the stain out, but the good news is that I saw "invisible" grape kool aid at the grocery store yesterday! Same flavor, but no color :thumbsup2

My advice for stains/dirt/messes lately has been the Mr. Clean eraser. I think it is a miracle cleaner! This eraser and the new Tide stain pen, which I keep in my purse now, are my new recommendations! If you haven't tried the Tide pen, you must. I for one am always wearing some of my messiest lunches, invariably all over a new white shirt. This pen takes out sauce stains!
