I'm sure lots of people have had the same situation. On our upcoming trip most of our reservations are for a party of 7 - our famiy of five, plus my sister & BIL. We are on the dining plan, so obviously we will want them to swipe cards separately for each party so they don't mess up our dining credits. Will this be a problem - ie. would they want to put us all on one bill for the purposes of the automatic tip for parties of 6 or more? Or can you use multiple KTW cards on the same bill? (this is our first time using the dining plan - just not sure how it all works with multiple parties dining together :confused3) I would actually prefer if they would allow us separate bills so we don't have to mess around with settling up the tip amongst ourselves (a bit of a hassle to do it for every meal). Will they allow that with a bigger group dining together or, again, will they not allow it since they do the automatic tip for bigger dining parties?

We have done it both ways. I find that it works both ways but it is less stress for you AND the waitstaff to swipe one card. If you are going to eat all your TS meals together, I just find it easier to swipe one card....Less room for mistakes... We have also done it where I swipe my card for the 6 members in my family and my friend swipes for the 3 in her family. Whatever way you do it, be sure if you are going to swipe more than one card, you tell them ahead of time so they can keep it together.
AND....if you are going to swipe more than one card, be sure you check every meal that the waitstaff did not make a mistake doing it. It has happened several times to me.

Just using one card wouldn't work for us - we have 2 kids on our dining plan & my sister & BIL don't have any. We would have to use our card at every meal for the children's dining credits. If we always billed my sister's meals to our dining plan eventually we would run out of adult credits and would end up having to use her card anyways (as well as ours for the kids - so would still be using 2 cards). It may be stressful for the server, but I'm not sure how using only one card would be less stressful for us?

It's the same thing as if you are eating out anywhere and each family is paying their own tab. You tell the server 'these 4 are on the same check' or however many are on the check and your sister says 'these 2 are on the same check'. We went with 9 relatives, three families, three separate rooms and dining plans and it all worked out just fine. The server then swipes 1 card for each group, not one card for every person. The servers are used to this type of thing and shouldn't have a problem.

That's how I thought it should work. Will we still be on one bill or two separate bills? Will they still do the automatic tip (since we are a party of more than six, but paying separately)?

just got back from our grand gathering saturday. our party of 11 were on the dining plan, with 4 seperate room cards. simply tell the wait staff how many cards to be used, and how many in each party, at beginning of meal. they will give seperate checks-with amount owed, including automatic tip based on the total of that check-and,have no problem charging each one.

Great - that's exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks! :thumbsup2
