Anyone know anything about ice makers in freezers?

I just installed an ice maker in our freezer. The manual said that it would take up to 24 hours to start making ice. Anyone know why?

Don't know, but we just bought a new fridge recently and ours said the same thing. I can make my own ice faster -- I've got the recipe!

Maybe it takes up to that long for the air to purge out of the plumbing inside the fridge? I don't think there's a way to bleed the air out, so it may have to go through a cycle or two to open the valves and let the air out.

Just a guess.
