My fridge has been acting up. It is too old to be covered under warrenty but not old enough to die. 7 years old..
For the past few weeks when we have high humidity it has been leaking from the bottom near the back of the fridge. When it is cold and damp outside like the past few days, it doesn't leak.
I pulled it out and took off the back panel to check and the copper pipe was damp but not soaking. I emptied the ice maker and it ran but didn't leak. It was a cold damp day out. I kept the fridge pulled out for 3 days, no leaking.
I pushed it back and it got hot and humid that day. It leaked tons, about 3-4 cups worth within a few hours.
I do have a humidity control for the summer but haven't had to increase it yet. I don't see any humidity on the doors like what happens during the hottest days of summer, it is leaking from the back bottom.
I pulled it out that night and of course it didn't leak.
I know it is not the pipe from the basement to the fridge, it is something inside.
The repair man wants $75 just to come and look at it. I am on disability, $75 is almost a months worth of groceries.
Has anyone had this happen? We are having some warm weather this weekend and I will pull it out again and set the humidity control up and see if that makes any difference but though someone might have run into this problem before.
