Anyone know about the "complementary disney vacation" offer for purchasing at SSR?

I can't give you chapter and verse, but basically you get your choice of a cash discount off of the normal purchase price OR a set of "Developer's Points" which constitute your free vacation. If you choose the free vacation option, you pay $95 per point. If you choose the cash discount, the price is around $87 per point.

The two discounts CANNOT be combined.

If you take the free vacation, it is 100 developer points to be used by 12/31/05.

That sounds like what I was told. They basically give you 100 pts to use toward your stay, or you can elect to take the $8 off the pt price. The 100 pts cannot be banked.

Like I said, I don't know chapter-and-verse, but the Developer's Points are on a sliding scale. I'm assuming the 100pts is for a 150-pt purchase. At some higher level than 150 you do get more than 100 points in return.

We just purchased 200 pts...and we didn't get more than 100 free vacation points.

I did a search and couldn't find a post that listed the next increment for more than 100 DPs. But, if you were to have purchased 300 (2x 150), I'm sure you would have gotten 200 Developer's Points. Perhaps the difference lies somewhere between 200 and 300--or perhaps it just goes up at 300. I'm just not sure.

Let's just say that anyone interested in getting more than 200 should probably ask their Guide for details, and leave it at that.

Here is the scoop on the developer points:

150 to 210 = 100 developer points
211 to 261 = 160 developer points
262 to 312 = 200 developer points
313 to 363 = 250 developer points
364 to 414 = 300 developer points
415 to 465 = 350 developer points
465+ consult you guide.

Not sure when it is going to end, but I know it is valid until at least the end of April.

As posted previously, points are not bankable and must be used by the end of December 2005.

The other option is $8 off the $95/point price for a cost of $87/point.

Just looking at my paperwork.. the developers points ARE bankable..

THE DEVELOPER POINTS TRANSFERRED TO PURCHASER HEREUNDER ARE LIMITED TO A ONE-TIME USE OF THE DEVELOPER'S OWNERSHIP INTEREST REPRESENTED BY SUCH DEVELOPER POINTS. IF THE DEVELOPER POINTS ARE NOT USED IN THE DEVILOPER POINTS USE YEAR OR BANKED TO THE SUBSEQUENT USE YEAR, THE DEVELOPER POINTS WILL AUTOMATICALLY EXPIRE AND WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASER'S USE....

HOWEVER... I tried to bank mine (BCV) and use all my new SSR points for a ressie in OCT and was unable to do so. The software MS uses will not allow handling of developers points that way, or so I was told. The gal and her supervisor tried real hard to bank them, but just couldn't do it.. They decided that they are meant to be used for the next reservation. Which makes sence, I guess, but I sure would have liked them for 05 UY and use them at BCV.. oh well...

Otherwise, yes you can get $8 off the $95 price, but it is a far better deal to take the other offer.. $90/point and DVD pays the MF's and Taxes on ALL the points. Remember, these are 04 points..

We just bought a SSR contract & debated which of the incentives to take, so I got as much detail about each of them as I could.

Our guide said that the "developer points" had to be used at a non-SSR resort for a stay before Dec. 31, 2005. This is for new owner contracts.

For add-on's, you get 100 points which CAN be banked.

So instead of starting with a 200 point contract like we had originally planned, we are doing a 150 point "master" contract & then doing a 120 point add-on. This will give the $8/pt. incentive discount on both contracts, no 2005 m.f.'s & 100 bonus points for the add-on contract.

Trying to get both contracts done before our next trip so we can use the bonus points in June. Hurry FedEx - Hurry!
