Anyone know a way to remove a security tag from a jacket?

Ugh. I swear I have bad luck.

I went shopping about 40 miles from my home I bought several items including a jacket for my teenage son.
I paid and left.

I got home, and there is a darn security tag under the collar of the jacket. I didn't notice it. The sales clerk didn't notice it. I left the store without the alarm going off. I didn't realize the stupid tag was on there until I got home.

It's one of those white clip tags and says if I attempt to remove it glass will shatter and ink will come out.

Is there any way to get this tag off the jacket without my having to drive over 80 miles roundtrip just to get the stupid tag off?

Oh, man. I wouldn't even try it. Maybe you can call the store and ask them what to do... they might have an answer for you. Good luck!

take the receipt to any store near you - if they have right equipment they will remove the tag for you.

Darn, I called the store back. The manager told me not to try to take it off because ink will go everywhere.

The manager also told me they use special tags, so most other stores won't be able to take it off for me.

Crud.

I had this same problem the night before leaving for our Disney cruise last summer, and I came here to the DIS to ask the same thing you did. lol

I ended up calling my local Kmart (the closest store to me that uses ink tags) and they were able to remove the tag(s) for me. Yes, it turned out that the capris had TWO of them, and it was the woman at Kmart who noticed the second one! lol

If it looks like the usual white rectangular ink tag that most stores use, I'd call the store closest to you, and ask if they'd help you out. I think if you show them the receipt and explain what happened, they'd help you. :)

I'm not sure I'd believe that. And since they won't pay for your time and gas to go back, I"d try some other stores. I doubt the tags are that special.

This happened to be before, but I simply took it back to the store (close to where I live) and had them remove it.

It is just a strong magnet that releases the tags from each other. I would try a local store also.
