I am really struggling since i've come back and don't see how I'm going to wait until Xmas 2010 for my next 'fix'!!:rotfl:

Has anyone been with young children just for a week to Universal??? We were blown away by how much more relaxing on-site at Universal was than Disney (mainly due to the compactness of UO):thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

So allthough I wouldn't consider a week at Disney (too exhausted just picturing it!!:lmao: ) - I thought I might be able to handle a week at the Hard Rock??

Any thoughts??:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I would do it for an extra trip, why not? lol

I wouldn't do a week for a main holiday though. There's no where near enough time to do much in jt a week IMO lol.

Go for it!!! I've been for a week a couple of times and will be doing so again in October. Admittedly that's not with small kids but I am taking my DS on my own! We're staying in BWV and just concentrating on EPCOT and Hollywood Studios... Should be fun! :thumbsup2

Same here, I wouldn't do it if it was my first visit or had not been or a long time.

We did 8 nights in Jan 07 and 7 nights in Jun 08 and it was no problem. We stayed on site which I think helped. Just worked with the jet lag and had early mornings and were asleep by 8 or 9 at the latest.

In June because we stayed at the GF we spent more time in MK than any other park and it was great just jumping on the monorail or boat. We didn't do any non Disney parks, but then we knew we were going back for 17 nights in the December.

I was considering taking my DD back for a week, just the 2 of us and staying at a universal resort as we have AP's that are valid so wouldn't have to fork out for tickets.

For me though that would be the only reason for doing a Universal stay over a monorail resort at Disney.

I've had 5 or 6 one-week Florida trips, but none of them exclusively to Universal or with young children, so I'm not sure how relevant my experience will be!

The short answer from me is that I think it's perfectly do-able if you've been before and are likely to go again, so don't feel pressurised to see/do everything. And 'only' a week is a lot better than not at all ;)

Our first one-week Disney trip was with DDs aged 16 and 11 over New Year, so was like a military operation to see and do everything at a very busy time(although we'd been before, we wanted to see all the Christmas attractions). I thought we might be too exhausted to feel we'd had a holiday, but all it did was pave the way for more one-week trips since then! Having said that, we're not really a 'relaxing break' kind of family.

I've also been with my mother (then a sprightly 76) for a week and she managed to see everything she wanted to in the Disney parks as well as visiting SeaWorld and Kennedy :)

We have another week booked for October with DDs (now 23 and 19) plus one of their boyfriends. BF hasn't been before, so he and DD will be doing as much of the parks as they can, but DH, other DD and I will be doing the more relaxed version!

Our justification is always that we'll have a 'cheap week' - which, of course, it never is ;) - when we don't want to commit to a two week break.

I thought I might be able to handle a week at the Hard Rock??
Ooh, I think I could happily manage that! ;)

After going for 2 weeks in May last year we did a week in August it was great!
After a couple of days at Universal and IOA we found we had done it all though so ended up doing a couple of days at MK and Epcot as well. I'd definitely do a week again. :)

We did a week at ASMovies in Feb '04 and loved it the parks were not as busy and the whole place was very relaxed. If you can fit a hotel at US into your budget and think you'll have enough to do then go for it:thumbsup2

I'd definately do it,it's an "extra" trip, and a lovely fantastic trip of that :thumbsup2

thanks for all of the advice!!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

What is the weather like in february??? I am toying with feb or oct half term. (May was just too hot for DS4 and therefore I am ruling out the summer holidays - although end of aug would have been ideal - but he'd probably be miserable!!):thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Of course if I did oct half term perhaps I could catch MNSSHP??!!!:goodvibes

we did a week in feb planning our wedding and I was worried but we got alot done in 7 nights. we stayed at pop so it was handy for onsite stuff

We did a week at All Star Movies as a second trip a few years ago. We took Disney's magical express so no car, and stayed on site the whole time.

We didn't try to fit it all in, and just spent time relaxing and going on our favourite rides.

I'd do it again.
