This weekend (10/9-10/10) is the annual Pumpkinfest Women's Rugby tournament, hosted by my team, Philadelphia Women's Rugby Club. It is at Belmont Plateau (in Fairmount Park) all of Saturday (about 10am to 5-6pm) and part of Sunday. This is the 21st year for this tournament (always hosted by us) and is the premier women's tournament in the country. We always have a few of the top ranked teams, along with teams from up and down the east coast and elsewhere in the country (CA, WA, GA, IL). It is a great time and should be a beautiful weekend.

So, if you want to see some great women's rugby (or just meet me!) come on out to Belmont Plateau this Saturday and Sunday! If you need directions, check out our team website at www.pwrfc.org or pm me.

Oh yeah, did I mention.....IT'S FREE!!!!!

As a native Philadelphian, I've been to this tournament a few times. It's a lot of fun and the competition is really good. Unfortunately, I'll miss it by a week this year. I'll be in town the week of the 18th. Sadly, there won't be any baseball or hockey for me to watch, either...

Bummer! I can't believe someone on these boards has actually gont to it! Most people, you say the word "rygby" and they look at you pretty much with a totally blank stare! Hope we'll have some new people come out and watch. It's supposed to be a great weekend, with good playing weather!

Come on people! Let's show some support! PWRFC is the 3rd oldest women's rugby team in the country (est. 1976). So, come on out and see grown women plowing into each other over a ball slightly larger than a football. I promise, it is an experience you will never forget!

OK, last chance to see women's rugby tournament in Philly this weekend! It also may be the last year for this tournament. We recently found out that the Fairmount Parks Commission will no longer allow us to have our tournament at Belmont Plateau after this year. Needless to say, trying to find an area that allows for at least 3 rugby pitches (we currently have four) in the same area is virtually impossible. So, come on out folks and support Philly Women's Rugby!
