Thanks! Just used a leaf tip for the feathers, that tip comes in handy for so very many things.

Wow star!! Your bow is gorgeous!!!

I appreciate it; I keep forgetting to add some stiffener to my fondant tho, makes my bows too soft. At least it didn't break during assembly!

Appreciate the comments, ladies!!

Keep on cakin'! :goodvibes

stargrazer, that last cake took my breath away - it's gorgeous! You are so so talented.

Hey cake ladies!

I haven't posted any pictures of cakes lately. I am still teaching the Wilton Courses. I have 3 classes this month (3 a week) and 4 starting in next week, not to mention the demonstrations(at least 1 sat a month) and project classes that I am going to have in Oct, Nov, and Dec!

Ok so here is my birthday cake, from August

My grandmother's birthday cake

And finally, My Mom's 50th Birthday cake!

I did a colorful cake instead of the traditional tombstone(her dad just passed away, so I thought that would be in bad taste), or over the hill cake. She LOVED it and appreciated that it wasn't the "traditional" 50th birthday cake. The only problem is that I guess fondant hasn't really caught on down here because no one knew what it was...I felt that the confusion took away from the rest of the cake's flavors(Almond cake with strawberry and white chocolate filling).

I haven't done any cakes in awhile, but my DD10 just made her first cake. It's an "Animal Cell Model" which she turned in this morning for her Science class.

Here it is:

Each candy represents a different part of the animal cell and has a numbered flag which corresponds to the description key inside the cake box. Can you name the parts of a cell? :lmao:

I ADORE this cake. ADORE it. What flavor was it? :thumbsup2

I always want to make Mo's projects out of cake and yet I'm always told the projects cannot be made in cake. I ask Mo "Hey, can we make this one out of cake" and Mo rolls her eyes and says "No mom, this one can't be cake either." Lame! ;) I thought a model of Uranus made of cake would be awesome.

lol...my kids are the opposite...can we do a project with something we can eat???

My DDs just "got" the Uranus "joke." They tee-heed all weekend about it. They haven't had many projects, yet, but I will keep the cake idea in mind. I am not at all creative, though, and I love all the cakes on this thread.

Yah, Mo picked Uranus for her planet project and didn't get it at the time. She didn't get why kids were snickering. I had to explain it and then "painting uranus blue" was the running joke for months.

Thanks. I'll tell her. She was really happy with it.

The cake was DUNCAN HINES yellow cake mix. I really wanted her to be able to make it herself, so that I couldn't be accused of doing it for her. :lmao: It was frosted with a plain old tub of store bought white frosting. I had a tub of piping gel which we tinted yellow to represent the "cytoplasm".

The cake was a 10" round which I carved some of the edges off to make it irregular shaped. I did not trust her with the carving knife. :rotfl: She picked out and placed all the candy.

As soon as I saw that the assignment sheet said that it could be made out of food and to be creative. My first thought was CAKE!!!!! :rotfl2:

Mchames - I love the cake too! Our DD's class is doing these exact projects! I'll have to ask if she can do it in cake! Too cool!

This happened to us too! DD got Uranus (was assigned) and DH and I suddenly reverted to our inner 12 year olds. "Honey, have you finished painting Uranus?" "Go put rings around Uranus." We were dying and when she finally got it, she wasn't too impressed with us ;)

All the cakes are so wonderful!

Hi, I checked out cake wrecks today and they actually have an awesome cake on there! (Actually some of the cakes aren't all that bad...look better than what I can do sometimes!). Anyhow check it out! The Muppet Show.....

Camo Cake, I know the top looks blank, but it will have a four wheeler on top (provided by the customer) and I have to put some mud tracks on where they decide to put it.

Good job on the cammo, not always and easy thing to do, IMO. I have brides that have asked for it (twice) but I haven't practiced it yet. So far the hubbies-to-be have gotten them to change their mind!
