Hello:

Checked the volunteer list for the Hamilton area and seems like everything is a bit of a travel like Toronto, Kitchener areas. Anyone find a volunteer position that qualifies for the free disney pass around Hamilton?

Deb.

Have you tried just using your postal code to search? I got way more hits by just doing that. Loads of opportunities in Calgary:thumbsup2

You can volunteer "virtually" with WarChild Toronto, I did this and its super easy.
You can also do the blanket volunteer thing where you send a blanket to ottawa and my husband and 2 kids did this, and I sent them in the mail on a monday morning and by saturday we had their vouchers emailed to us and printed off!
Try putting in 99999 as a postal code and 89995 as another. One gets the blanket one up and the other gets the warchild one up.

Both are super easy.
For the blanket one, if you have a liquidation world around you they sell fleece blankets for 3.88 that already have the fringe around them and all you have to do is know the fringe and you are done. I wrapped mine in ribbon and put a card on each and sent them off.

cool.
we now have 4 days worth of fast passes for our family or 2 days of fast passes and 2 mickey figurines with limited edition pins!! win win

Hi Mollyseven:

The blanket activity is it the handmade blanket? So we need to get one with a fringe on it or can an unfringed one work? The part being handmade is the presentation with a ribbon and nice card on it or how you do it up?

Were the mailing costs alot?

Thanks,

Deb.

The blanket is supposed to be a fleece blanket or a crocheted blanket. If you make the fleece one you can do what you want but on the email you get it shows a "suggested size fleece and they show it with tassles cut into the sides and then knotted to make it look nice." The fleece I found at the liquidation world already happened to be the right size and it was fringed on 2 sides so that I didn't have to do that. I knotted the fringe 2 strips at a time to make it look nice and then wrapped it up nicely with a homemade card.
It was no different that purchasing a piece of fleece and doing it myself really, there is no fabric store near us and even our walmart has stopped selling material and sewing stuff so it was the best I could get near us and it worked and they looked nice.
4 blankets at 3.88 each and then 10.00 to mail it to Ottawa and we did it all from home.

I clicked on the site and sent the email. Approx how long before they notify you with the instructions.

Thanks for your help,

Deb.

Did you cut the other 2 sides and knot them too, or did you leave them? (Only 2 sides were cut into strips, correct?)

no i didn't cut the other 2 sides.
I think the instructions are just a guideline.
The blanket looked good with just 2 sides knotted.

Hi Sorry to be so much trouble but did I click on the wrong one, it finally came and says "“Handmade Blankets (for residents of the United States only)”.

Just wanted to post a quick message to say thanks so much for posting this information about the virtual opportunities. We are currently booked on the Disney Wonder in May followed by a couple of days at the Polynesian. I work 2 jobs which equal 13 hours a day most days of the week, so I didn't think I would find an opportunity and would never have thought of putting in those postal codes to search. We have signed up for the blanket opportunity and look forward to a few hours at EPCOT. Thanks again:thumbsup2

Can you help me understand this please - do you mean you can volunteer multiple times and get 1 pass for each 'day' - thus adding up to the equivalent of a 4 day pass (i.e. MYW pass)? Or do you mean fast passes like you get in the Park?

Thanks for posting this! I just signed our family up for the blankets - we crochet here, and I actually used to make and gather blankets for Project Linus in my community. Can't wait to buy the yarn and get going - it will keep us warm at night as the blankets get bigger!:thumbsup2 Our only problem is that we are going for Christmas this year, and so we are trying to budget a few extra days to arrive on or before December 15th, when this voucher ends. We had planned on two weeks (Dec. 12-26), so hopefully we can manage it -only have the 19-26 booked so far (DVC points), and will try to add to it. Otherwise, I guess I'll plan a small trip in the summer (oh darn ;)) Happy blanket making everyone!:goodvibes

No, you can only volunteer once for one day park ticket.
My family of 4 all volunteered so that equals 4 free tickets of other's.
The fast pass option is a fast pass for one park for one day for up to 5 people in your party.
So if we each used ours for a fast pass, that would equal 4 days.

My son though would like the mickey figurine with the pins, and that's totally cool too.

How long did it take everyone to get a response? I have sent my email twice and still nothing (sent the first one four days ago).
