My hubby and I sent in for our passports on the last day (Friday) in August before the price increase. So far the check hasnt cleared my bank and I dont have my passport either! Has this happened to anyone else?? Of course I cant find my receipt to prove I actually paid for them but I do have a copy of the one check that cleared locally and my duplicate of the check I wrote to the passport agency for 90 dollars. Am I the ONLY one who hasnt received their passport yet? I know they told me to expect it by the 23rd of September but seeing everyone else getting theirs makes me wonder if ours got "lost" in space???

Thanks!
Heidi

It takes a few weeks to get them back. Also if there was a big rush of folks trying to get the passports at the old price before the increase, they may take six to eight weeks to process...

Some friends sent away for theirs that day also and got them within 2 weeks.

I applied on August 10th and we all received our passports on Sept 3rd. When I applied she told me that it is very possible that all 5 of us would receive our passports on different days and not to worry unless it went passed the due to arrive date. I would think that they were swamped on the last day and that yours would be delayed. If you are still concerned they gave me a 900 number I could call (if I remember it was rather expensive) to track my passports. I will look for it if you need it.

I went to the Passport Agency office at the Federal building here and dropped off my application with payment. The person I dropped it off with said it would take 5 weeks. Took only a week, but probably an unusual case.

I'd say if its much more than 5 weeks you may want to check. Catch is I think they have a contractor that you call to check with and there may be a small fee, but I'm not sure of that. Would have to look it up on the Passport Agency's website to be sure.

Don't panic. If you dropped them off on Aug. 30 and today is Sept 9. That only gave them Tue. Wed. Thur and Fri. (4 business days) to process.

I would wait a few more weeks before you start to worry.

When I got mine it took 11 business days to process and that was in the off season for passports.

We applied for new ones for both kids (expire in Dec - beat the price increase) the Wed before the increase. Were told 6-8 weeks and that fits our previous experience. I'm not at all concerned at this point. If November rolls around and I don't have them - I'll start looking!

We went the friday before the increase together.

Heres our status:

DD10 came exactly 10 business days later.
DD6 came the day after that.
DH came this past saturday.

Mine, however, seems to be "lost in space" as well.
I'm not panicking yet because we don't sail until 11/23.

I hope you get yours soon!

Can someone please expand on the price increase?

I guess I wont panic YET...but it may happen soon! I dont care so much for me because I had an expired passport so they didnt take my B.C. but they took hubbies and I HATE having to get another one for him. I can get them here locally but I just hate going down there to get one! I guess I will wait until the week of the 23rd of September before I panic! We dont leave until the 14th of November so I have awhile but I would just like to have them in hand...one less thing to worry about.

Goofy Disney-- the price increase went into effect on the 19th of August. They raised the price about $25.00 if I remember right. They are now $85.00 per passport as of the 19th of August.

Trying to wait patiently...not succeeding!

The 3 of us sent ours away on that last Friday. So far, Husband's came back, since expedited. I believe the other check has cleared for my Daughter's new passport. My passport was just a name change so didn't have a fee with it.
No luck on Daughters or mine yet.

Please don't panic. It's been less than a month, and there was a holiday in there, too.

The speed with which your passport is processed has a lot to do with the processing center it got sent to.

If you are really worried, then just go on the web, get the phone # and call. At most it will cost you 5 bucks for peace of mind.

I also applied the last day before the increases took effect, have not received it yet. I was told it may take several weeks.

Hey Hydster,
Its me again! I applied August 13 at the town hall for my son. I mailed my renewal the same day. Both checks were cashed 8/20
and Matthew just got his on 9/7. Mine has not arrived. Matt's went to Charleston, I can't remember where mine went-Laurie

Interestingly enough, we are in NORTHERN Michigan, and ours went to Charleston. We got them around the five week mark. It probably only took one week to actually make them and two weeks each to get them in and out of NORTHERN Michigan. :)

So when you say NORTHERN Michigan are you still trolls or yoopers? I think it takes a passport to cross from one part of our state to the other doesn't it?;)

Deb

We are TROLLS!!!!! Transplanted trolls, but trolls none the less.

My son and I applied the Wednesday before the increase and we don't have ours yet.

Now the whole family is squared away.

I guess there is no rhyme or reason as to how they do it here.]
