Anyone here remember Glamour Pictures? Picture added post 22

I'm really dating myself with this one. Back in the early ninties they were all the rage. Get your hair and makeup done (and I do mean DONE), dress up in hats and feathers and have your picture made.

I still have mine (well hidden).

My daughter Sarah will be a collage freshman in August. She is pretty good with her camera and gaining a reputation here for taking nice pictures. Today her hairdresser asked her if she would be interested in a joint venture with the hairdresser fixing hair and makeup and Sarah taking pictures.

Might be fun but now they are trying to come up with a more up to date name. One idea is "Sassy Southern Style". Anyone have any good ideas?

Oh, and if you have Glamour Shots I would love to see them.

I remember those too!!! My BFF and I had them done in prob 92 or 93! They were great!!!

I remember them, they weren't hot in the 90's here, but about 5 years ago. A lot of my male co-workers have glamour photos of their wives/girlfriends taken in recent years on their desks.

My daughter and I had them done about 10 years ago now.

It was fun and the pictures did turn out very nice.

I do remember these. I never got mine done but my sister had hers done when she was going through a divorce and needed a pick-me-up. I wonder if she still has hers. Penny, you should scan yours and post them for us. I'd love to see them.

I had it done in the late eighties! Not a true Glamour Shots photo but like it (I did the makeup and my boss, a hairdresser, fixed my hair). We all had them done for the newspaper (yikes!!) for an advertisement for the shop! I will try to post it if I can figure it out!

I did it and used the pic as my senior photo. I have no idea how they made my hair look like that but it was BIG.

OMGosh - yes! LOL! How fun!

Every now and again, my g/f will see a picture at someone's house, or in the background of perhaps a News Segment, at someone's house and turn to each other and go "Glamour Shots".

Those Toddler & Tiara girls pictures - thats what they remind me of. That's where all the old Glamour Shot workers got a job, when Glamour Shots closed up shop.

I remember those!!!! I have mine still...my girlfriend & I went and had them done. DH hated them because he said I looked like someone completely different.

The funny thing is since I wear glasses I had NO CLUE how things were turning out when they did my hair. My friend just kept telling me that it was TOTALLY different -- when I put my glasses back on (took them off for the pictures) -- it was definitely a DONE up hairstyle -- then we went to a food place in the mall & I never saw so much lipstick come off on a straw in my life it was so caked on. LOL!!!!

I'm not one that wears make-up normally so it was different. Hmmm...maybe someday I should scan mine and stick it up on Facebook. It would confuse people.

I wish they still had those around though because my DD would absolutely LOVE it & it would be a fun thing to do.

Glamour Shots are still open in some areas. There is one in a mall here. They still dress you up and stuff, but more subdued.

I think I did! Mine had "Chicago" written on the back of it though, if I recall airbrushed style with some bling on it.

Now I'm going to have to dig them out!

OMG they only did the front of your hair. I gave a Glamor Shot as a gift to a babysitter who was going to a dance. She called me upset that they only did the front of her hair. I had to pay them to do the back too

I never had it done, because I was totally not into getting my picture taken.

We have a place in town where a wife does the makeup and hair and the husband does the pictures. OMG, they are phenomenal! Not at all cheesy like the 90s glamour shots, but beautiful pictures that bring out the very best in the subject.

They just go by their last names (Smith & Smith). Their work speaks for itself, so they really don't need anything cutesie or memorable for the name.

I can remember walking by them. The sailor jacket and hat always cracked me up.

I would like to suggest "Picture Perfect" for the business name.

Sassy Southern Style makes me think of the ladies of Steele Magnolias IMO.

Here are my pictures -- it has to be after 1991 because I was married but I have no idea WHEN it was -- I'm guessing sometime between 1991 & 1994 as I don't remember if DD was born yet or not. Now, these are taken with my digital camera (basically taking a picture of a picture, so quality isn't greatest). I have NO IDEA how they got my hair to do that since it then it wouldn't hold a curl to save my life but they managed! I LOVED that style and I don't have pierced ears!!! LOL!!! These are the ones I bought pictures of from the proofs.

DD and I had a picture done at Glamour Shots when she was three. I love her pictures, but I felt like a country western star after they finished with my hair. I'm not a poofy hair person!
