is anyone here on National Honor Society at thier High School or Jr. High school? my friends nd i need some community service projects..any ideas? lol :)

I am! I was an aide last year in the library so that got me alot of hours, our school also has a community service club so I did a lot of stuff in that. You could also volunteer at a museum, my friend does that.

in our school, only seniors are allowed to be on NHS. I'm a junior so i'm obviously not. Nominations are being announced soon, and hopefully since I have a high GPA and involved in stuff i'll be nominated! :)

I was in NHS in high school. One thing that I did was work at a volleyball camp (the organizer was my coach), and instead of getting paid, me and another girl got service hours. I also helped out at my town's 4th of July picnic.

awh hopefully you get on! :) :) at my school we're allowed on as sophmores if we have a gpa of 3.25 or higher nd theres only about 6 kids from each grade on it. I was soooo excited to be on as a sophmore nd hopefully you get on too! :sunny:

ohh nd the picinic is a really good idea. we have a town fair over the summer, but our 4 community service ideas have to be done for may 31st..

one of the things we do at our school as a group fundraiser is we have a rock-a-thon. you get pledges for how many hours you can rock in a rocking chair. nd it goes for 20 hours. it goes through a school day nd we did it on the stage, so everyone eating lunch could see us.lol it was fun

another thing we've done was a blood drive for the tsunami victims.it was fun even tho im not old enough to give blood, but i still felt good afterwards :)

i'm in NHS at my school...to get in at my school you need a 93 average and atleast a sophmore and theres alot more stuff required to get in it but i dont remember what they are

For community service i gift wrapped at my church for Youth Group and i'm not sure what else i'm doing because i need like 3 more hours

Lets see. I had to have a 3.4 gpa(or up) at the end of my junior year to even be considered for NHS. then I had to fill out a bunch of paperwork and hope to be picked. I got all my volunteering through Girl Scouts. 13 years and going strong. :) I also volunteer at our hospital *coughonceayearcough*

hope that helps. :)

omg thats so awesome! lol awsome job. it feels so good to get rewarded for hard work after so long! :cloud9: congradulations! :teeth: :Pinkbounc

at my school you're nominated for NHS at the beginning of your junior year if you have a GPA of 3.4 or higher. Then you have to fill out a form and write an essay about why you think you should be in NHS. Then you're on probation for a couple of months, and you have to attend all the meetings and do 4 service hours a month. I'm now at the final stage, which is writing a leadership essay, filling out more forms about stuff like extra-curriculars, and getting five teacher recommendations. then a panel of teachers is going through everything and deciding who gets in, and induction is in march.

i'd def suggest the library for service hours. i get mine there, as well as helping at elementary schools.

I was on NHS in high school. Try looking for service opportunities through your local church or some clubs at school. We had a service club at school called "Do Something" and there were always opportunities to get involved. I had a lot of fun!

I used to be on NHS at my old school, but this year I changed schools and I wasn't allowed to be on anymore I don't know what to do. :Pinkbounc

Well at my school we have it but I just got my aplication a few days ago and I got to turn it in tomarrow. So cross your fingers that I make it. Please!! LOL!! :flower:  :cheer2: :worship: :dancer: :genie:

I was on NJHS at my MS (you can't be on NHS till mid junior year, I believe...), and we helped out with the special olympics. I'm also in a lot of other service organizations and we've helped out at the local fairs, cleaned up parks and stadiums, went around to nursing homes, and just a lot of stuff like that.
