WHAT IS IT LIKE TO BE SUPER RICH?

I live in the Washington DC area, and there are many people here that are multi-millionaires. I have traveled all over the United States and have never seen an area with so many fancy million dollar homes. There are alot of opportunities to spend money here in the DC Metro area. There are tons of fancy shops, restaurants, galleries, cultural events, etc. This is a good place to be rich.

I just returned from Tysons Galleria in McLean, VA. There are alot of fancy shops in that mall with price tags you will never believe. One shop had neck- ties for $300.

I would love to know what is is to be a multi-millionaire. What is life like for people that have millions and millions of dollars? What do they do on weekends? Do they ever look at price tags? Do they ever eat at fast food, or shop at Walmart? Do they ever mix with the average middle class folks?

What would it like to be married to a multi millionaire? Why work when there are so many others that need a job and the money? Though what would you do all day? Maybe a life like Sue Ellen Ewing, from "DALLAS"

I am talking mega rich! Anyone here fit that category, so we can pump you for information?

Well, since $300 is what we budget for food and gas for our family of 4 for 2 weeks, I would have to say I'm not a multi-millionaire. Heck, I'd have to say, I'm not even a multi-hundred-thousandaire.

I would however like to be adopted by a multi-millionaire, if anyone out there is looking for an adoptive daughter.

I had a high-school friend whose parents were multi-millionaires. They kept their adult children under their thumbs like you would not believe, though. It was awful! They used their money to control their adult children :( The last time I saw her was when we were around 25/26...here I was trying to pay a mortgage and live like a responsible, married adult while she was behaving like an overgrown child. We went to the mall together, where she proceeded to charge nearly $700 on her PARENTS' credit card. I honestly couldn't tell you what she bought, but it was all unnecessary "stuff". I remember that she spent like $500 at Crate and Barrell on a whim! It was just so odd to me that I couldn't justify spending time with her anymore. I haven't talked to her in years, but last I heard she was still living on her parents' dime...

A friend of mine married a Multi, Multi millionaire and moved overseas. She had "servants" and an 8 bedroom, 8 bathroom summer home which I visited once. Her husband took me for a ride in his Ferrari, we saw Ringo Starr out at dinner one night in France, etc....

She's divorced now, and IMO, money was the root of their problems - he had it all his life and she married into it.

They had lots of "things" that I could never even dream about, however how I saw it they "got" used to those things and just wanted bigger things then. That 1 million dollar ring ends up sitting in the ring box in the closet just like an old suit. Hard to believe, but it's true.

Edit to add - the one best thing they had was access to a private plane, I went on it once - and it was sooooooo awesome not waiting at the airport for a plane. You drive up to the plane, they check you in, and voila, you take off. Nothing like it in this whole world - that was AWESOME. It was like a dream for a small town girl like me to go on a private plane - probably the only time in my life i'll ever get to do it, and it was something i'll always remember.

Sad to say, we fell out of touch.....and her divorce was extremely bitter and nasty.

We visited The Sanctuary, the new super deluxe hotel at Kiawah Island, last week and visited the various gift shops. Since I didn't buy a single $2,000 wildlife sculpture, the $300 napkin rings, the $875 golf sweater or even the $55 flipflops, I guess I must not be one! I found it seriously scary to think that there were toddlers walking around there in $100 swimtrunks and $200 shorts outfits.

Ummm nope! But you know what, I wouldn't trade my life for any amount of money!

I went to school with the rich kids. Some didn't think they were rich - even tho they had their main house, the ranch, and the villa in Italy! Well, she's not rich anymore - she married the assistant cook at the country club and mummy and daddy weren't happy bout that!

One girl was on her fifth year of college - parked her Porsche illegally all the time cuz she could afford to pay the fines. Always wore leather pants or skirts. Another girl's father got a new car. I asked what it was. She says, "ummmm.... a Rolls Royce." She had to think about it!!!!!

Luckily I found some of the crowd that was on financial aid to commiserate with! :)
