Wanted to see what is was like. What are the perks? Worth the high price tag?

In the book, "Walt and the Promise of Progress City" the author pans Golden Oak as a bow to corporate greed and something Walt would have wholeheartedly opposed building.

Hubby has been there several times & we know an older couple who is building a vacation home there.

Really nice place. Prices range from $1.2 ish - $7.5 ish. Gated community, great club house. You pay $25,000 in HOA dues. The homes are done to Disney standard inside and out. You must have wood only doors, landscaping, they have interior design opions ect. Lots are from 1/4 acrs to 3/4 estates. We looked at it and love it for retirement.Go to the website and check it out.

Ya know that thread...."What would you do if you won the lottery"....yeah. This. And while they're getting the house built I'd be touring Disney in other countries.

$25,000 a year in HOA dues?

We had the DIS member GF housekeeper, whose husband was an eye dr. And lived in Tampa, who owned. House there.

:thumbsup2

That is what we would be doing too. DH has always said if we ever win the "Big" lottery, we will sell our existing home and move there :goodvibes.

Yea, but I think that figure includes trash removal and lawn maintenance.:rotfl:

And I think annual passes for life. Although at that price, it's cheaper to pay for your own passes...:rolleyes1, on the flip side, if you're paying that much to live near DW I'm sure you don't care about money either.

Oh my goodness. There aren't even any lawns the lots are so small! :)

It must include property taxes too (do they even have property taxes in Florida?)

There was a woman who use to post here a while back who claimed to live there. I can't remember her screen name to go back and read her threads.

I am another one who would live there if I ever won the lottery. Its the only way I could ever afford it!

I love it how people think they know what Walt would have wanted. It's not taking away from the average family enjoying WDW.

Along with the park tickets it also includes transportation to the park for you and your party.

Actually it may be taking away from an average families trip at some point. The ground that they used is irreplaceable. When the Florida project got underway Disney bought up a lot of land to keep many other businesses from crowding in like at Disneyland. He said so himself. I can totally see how the other posters point of Walt being against it would probably be true. IMO
