Anyone here ever had a chipped bone in the bottom of their heel?

I posted last week that my DD was hurt while riding her jet ski and was going to be on crutches for a week.. Initially they thought that nothing was broken, but now they're thinking she has a chipped bone in her heel so she's seeing an ortho doctor tomorrow.. They mentioned something about removing it surgicially OR some kind of "shot" that would "dissolve" the chip?

Anyone know anything about this and how it's normally treated?

Sorry to hear about your DD, C.Ann! That hurts! I never had a chipped bone in my heel, but did have one on the outside of my foot. The podiatrist gave me anti-inflammitory prescription, and recommended rest, cold compresses, elevation, and time! It really hurt for a couple of months. Sounds like your DD's is worse than mine, tho'. Hope she feels better soon!

I haven't had a chipped bone, but about a year ago I had bone spurs on the bottom of both heels. It hurt so much that I could barely walk. One day I went to my chiropractor and he took x-rays and looked at them. He gave me heel cups to wear in my shoes and also gave me several ultrasound treatments to dissolve them. The treatments actually worked. This happened about 2 months before we were going to WDW and the treatments enabled me to enjoy my vacation pain-free.

Well this sounds promising! Maybe they can just do the unltrasound thing or something..

I swear - the girl should NOT be allowed out of bed each day until she is wrapped from head to toe in BUBBLE WRAP - LOL..
