Anyone Heard of Etsy?

My DD wants a necklace sold through Etsy for Christmas. Does anyone have any experience using this website? Is it legit? TIA

I used Etsy this summer to purchase some disney tie dyed t-shirts for my daughter and me. I used a vendor that someone suggested on the disboards so I can't say that ALL vendors are trustworthy, but I didn't have a bad experience.

It's legit. I've ordered things from there before and two friends sell homemade items on Etsy. Of course, it's similar to Ebay in that it's individuals selling items through the site. So, you'll want to check their feedback first.

I ordered a great Mickey head key charm from Etsy. Great experience. It is like ebay, so sellers vary.

Yes the site is totally legit. As previous posters said, it's much like Ebay with individual sellers. I have used it a few times and never had a problem, the sellers have all been very nice and the transactions have been smooth. Have found some beautiful things on there. I won't hesitate to use it again in the future either. If I had to describe it, I'd describe it as the Ebay of the handmade items.

I have used it a few times and love my purchases. I use paypal for purchases and so I have that protection but so far so good and I have been happy

My DD has ordered several things for her wedding from etsy ~ invitations and all the flowers and bouquets (she allergic to flowers so can't have real flowers) and has had a great experience with it so far

I wouldn't hesitate to use it ~ just check feedback as has been said by PPs!

Etsy is a legit site. Like others have said it's a lot like Ebay so just check their feedback before ordering. I like to support home businesses so I buy from there whenever possible.

I bought my Renaissance garb from an etsy seller. There was a slight glitch in my order and the seller fixed it immediately. I was very pleased. I plan on buying other items there (especially for baby-on-the-way!). Someone has an adorable "s'mores" necklace that I want for Christmas. We love camping!

Love Etsy! I've purchased many things and never had a bad experience. Since people are selling things which they have actually made and are proud of, everyone I've dealt with has been extremely pleasant.

Etsy is a wonderful site! Each seller I've purchased from has been more than helpful and the things you can find on the site are amazing. I love the fact that when you buy, the money goes directly to the creator (I usually buy only handmade items, no resales).

I have bought a few items, personalized shirts and DD's halloween costume from etsy. Lots of the people have their own website. If you google the name of the company or person, sometimes their person site is better than what is posted on etsy, but it is still the same person.

Etsy is a very popular website. I have a few friends that sell on Etsy and would encourage anyone to buy from there. It's great to support small businesses and artists!!!

I did order an item from someone who never shipped. They said 6 weeks for a custom order, but thats how long you have to file the claim. They had a lot of feedback, all good, but now it's been too long to file a claim with Ebay.

The same happened to me. I got burned out of $60.
