Anyone hear... WestJet Disney Package

Hi Gang

Westjet is offering Disney vacation packages for $800-900 per adult (I think) for a week including air, tickets, accommodation (value resorts) and meals.

It says "Book by June 24 for travel between August 26 and September 22, 2007."

Just incase you're interested...
http://www.westjetvacations.com/content/specials/mcw_070412.html#

We tried every configuration possible 2 weeks ago and could not get anything from Calgary that was open. They do start at 910cad from Toronto and go up from there if you can find a package it is a good deal!

I booked last week. 3 adults & 1 child- 13 nights at POP, 10 day park hopper + water parks, flight from NL , travel insurance-of course free dining $5235 txs in. That is good for us. When we started to add up lat year how much we would need it was $8000-$9000, then with free dining it was still $2800 + $3600 for flights (w/travel ins)

Thanks, I just checked the site. We are not cancelling our other booking though. West Jet is just under 3600 for our dates with tickets. Disney direct was 1750 plus 800 in flights, so still $600 cheaper w/ exchange. Plus since we are flying from the US we won't need passports until later. I can rationalize anthing if I try hard enough!
A great deal though if you plan to fly out of Canada.

Wow.
This seems to be a very good deal.

Booking with Disney directly for 8 nights at POP with free dining and 7 tickets for 2 costed me U$ 1.095.00 (~ CAN 1250.00 with the rip off exchange from our credit card company) for the 3 of us (our son is under 2 years old). I sill need to wait for a good deal from SWA.

If I go with Wesjet for the same days and resort, it will cost me CAN 1981.33 all taxes in. Add the fact that we would fly out of Toronto, not having to pay for a hotel in Buffalo or parking there + the fuel costs, it seems really good to me.

Now here come the questions:

1) Don't we have to buy directly from Disney or CAA to get free dining? Wouldn't it be a problem?

2) Can I make the reservation and then cancel the one I have with Disney after everything is confirmed with Westjet? Do they accept double reservations?

3) Would I have to rebook all my ADRs? Are they linked with my original hotel reservation at all?

Any more inputs are appreciated.

Thanks, Camilo

We had our trip booked through Disney but hadn't yet paid the deposit, the deal with Westjet includes the free dining plan. I already had my ADRs booked, but I don't think that is a problem anyway, but I would call dining 800# just to check. If you paid through Disney I believe you have 45 days before your arrival to transfer with no penalty

Tks.
But what do you mean by transfer? Do you mean cancel the reservation? How would I go about trasnfering it?

I correct myself. My current trip booking with Disney directly is costing us U$ 1.195 (and not 1.095 as I stated earlier).
That's about CAN 1375.00 after the conversion to CAN.
That means we would be paying CAN 600.00 for the 2 air tickets. A pretty good deal if you ask me. You can choose between flying on Saturday and Sunday as well.

Question: does anyone know if we would still be eligible to receive the Disney perks (1 photopass picture, 15.00 Planet Hollywood voucher) if we go via Westjet?

Thanks again.... I'm really thinking about booking with them now...

I could be doing my math wrong but West Jet is offering POR for 4 of us(all considered adults now) for $3986. That is a 7 day base with no hopping or pluses. I have Por booked, 7 nights, dining and 4 flights from Buffalo for $2647us. Even with the exchange I think it is still $900 cheaper...am I missing something? If the price difference was a little closer I would love to fly out of TO.

Yeah that sounds about right.
I got a price of 4397.00 for the mod's...cbr and csr this afternoon and that was for 3adults and a 9 year old (12counts as adult) with hotel, flight from toronto, 7 day base tickets and free dining.
POP was 3740.00 for the same stuff.
when i went on the disney site i was able to get hotel, transfers and 7 dase base tickets for 1600usd....i just couldn't find reasonable flights....
still for 3740 i still wanna go to pop for the week. I mean flights, hotel, meals and tickets for our family for a week under 4grand....love that.
my kids loved pop as much as cbr anyhow.
im just not sold on the weather in september or the crowd levels

Camilo, is that price including tickets? I tried our dates for 2 people and POP and came up with 1640 before tickets.
To answer your questions - 1- no, just a my way package with rack rate on the room.
2- yes, wait until you have your westjet before you cancel, you have until 45 days before your trip to cancel entirely
3- no, ADRs are not linked at all as far as I know.

Tks.

Sorry I meant to say cancel....need more sleep or caffine not sure which at this point...LOL

Hi jeannief,
the price I got was with tickets.
Try this: 2 people leaving on September 8th, returning on the 16th, staying at POP (8 nights) with two 7 days adult tickets (no water option, no hopper).
This will give you a total of CAN 1.981.33 all taxes in.

I even printed a copy for my reference, although I have not booked yet.

Hope that helps....

Michelle, are you comparing POP with POR or you mistyped the resort name?

I guess if you have more people (like 4 in your case) flying from Buffalo, it might make more sense, as you are splitting the fuel costs and the hotel room and/or parking there between 4 people. You're not considerting those in your math, right?

In our case, it's just my wife and myself (our son doesn't pay anything). The difference between Westjet prices with airfare and Disney's price without air (waiting for a price drop from SWA) is CAN 600.00

Yes, I could play the waiting game and even get 2 RT tickets from Buffalo for (let's say) CAN 350.00. That would be CAN 250.00 cheaper than flying from Toronto.

If we add the hotel night in Buffalo (CAN 100.00) and the fuel costs in my Taurus (about CAN 50.00), flying from Buffalo would be only 100.00 cheaper.

All this math is IF SWA reduces their prices to around 60.00 each way and hoping that we can get the flights we planned originally with them.

It's way more convenient to me to fly from Toronto. I can always ask a friend/neighboor to drop us off/pick us up.

Hope that makes sense....

If the difference in cost is less than $300 then I would say to fly out of Toronto if that is convenient for you. If flying from the US would save you more than $300, then it would be worth it to me to drive a couple of hours, but that's just me. I wouldn't imagine it would cost more than $200 for the hotel and airport parking, and I am sure some of the fine folks here will help you find a "park n fly" deal out of Buffalo, where the parking is included in your hotel stay. That's what we do when we fly out of Syracuse and it never costs us more than $120. I don't know where you live so I can only speculate that it shouldn't be more than a tank of gas to get you to Buffalo and back. There is also the added bonus of being able to clear customs when you cross the border, instead of the airport. (At least, I think it is a bonus!)

The ADRs are not linked in any way, shape, or form to your hotel reservations. ANYBODY can make an ADR, you don't have to be staying on property. I have never even been asked the name of my hotel when I make ADRs, just if we will be on the dining plan.

Thanks for the info regarding the ADRs.
I explained my math in my post above.
Hope it's clear....

Wow! I just priced out 1 adult/1 child, 12 nights, Animal Kingdom Lodge, Savannah View Room, incl tickets, free dining, flights and car $5300 canadian! Too late for me this year, maybe next year it will be back.

I rechecked my numbers just be sure...I am booked for a mod resort at $2036 for 7 nights plus my air is $600 (all $US) and West Jet is $3986.57can for the same package (my 2 kids are adult prices). Even if I take off $150 for gas and hotel it still seems to come out $700 cheaper. YYZ is closer for me to drive to but the Buff airport is far more efficient and quicker because you are already through customs. I totally agree with you on the $100 issue, I would not drive to Buff for such a small difference (even $2-300) but we have been every Aug for the past several years and never paid more than $550 for 4 of us so I am hoping for the best.

Also not ethat when I called you coul dnot fly out on Sept. 22 and get the free dining for the rest of the time.. you had to complete your stay by Sept. 22.. so for us who are going on Sept. 22 we could not get the deal with westjet. I also like te idea of not having to do customs at the airport when you fly from the US.. last time from Ottawa we waited at least 1 hr more just to get through the airport at Orlando...ughh
