Anyone having trouble finding LEGO sets?

I live in between two Targets, literally a Super one is 1.5 miles away and another is 1.6, so I have no problem checking in tomorrow for you as well. And, if I find it and you end up getting it, apparently I can hawk the thing on ebay ;)

My daughter just got into legos this year, and I feel bad because my boyfriend bought her two sets for Christmas, and I think he paid full price. She's six, and I think they'll be to old for her, but like he said, I bought her an American Girl doll (which is pretty much for me) so he bought her legos (which was pretty much for him) lol. If I end up finding some cheap I can save them for later ...

I have a question, I went to get a lego set for my grandson and I dont know it seemed like for the pieces in it wasnt really worth the money. Am I wrong?

Legos are a quality toy and the directions are appropriate for the intended age group. To you it looks like a few plastic bricks, but the kids get excited picking out all the details on the figures, items, etc. Once assembled, they really are cool.

My kids loved legos (and still do, but they are more selective, being older now) and occasionally would receive mega-blocks type toys from well meaning people. Those would be so hard to put together, fall apart once assembled, etc.

Look for any type of sale to make it more reasonable, but I have paid full price many times, and it has always been worth it.

DD11 loves legos & I wish they made more sets geared towards girls! She loves the houses. This year I got her the holiday bakery - it's so cute & she loves to bake.

This might sound dumb but did you check the lego.com site? I had looked on Amazon & waited too long because the bakery sold out at the reasonable price. Target & some other stores were all showing sold out online and they don't carry them in the store. Just during a search, the bakery came up at lego.com and the price was about what the stores had been charging, plus it was in stock!

I hated to pay shipping but it was my fault for waiting so long to order. Just tossing that out there in case it can help someone else find their set!

I picked up a couple of Walmart.com - they were doing bundles - 2 for $20, 2 for $30, 2 for $40, 2 for $60. I got 2 for $60 and saved about $20. Free shipping to store.....

Thanks to all for the suggestions for finding the Ninjago Ice Dragon Attack set. I've now been to three Target stores, three WalMarts, two Barnes and Noble, three Kmart, and one Toys R Us. I have checked online at walmart.com, target.com, lego.com, kmart.com, toysrus.com, amazon.com, etc. I have found shelf tags at many of the brick and mortar stores, but no actual set. :sad2:

Thankfully, all the checking has not been out of my way, as I had to make a trip to TRU for a few items I needed that were on sale, and the WM, Kmart and Target are all between here and there (we only have one TRU way north of here). I also found a lot of really cool and inexpensive stocking stuffers while I was checking those places (Ninjago bagged sets, especially cool and under $3.50!).

So all was not for naught, but I really wish I had been able to locate that particular set. It would have sealed DS and DD's belief that Santa can do anything. :rotfl: I may yet find it for a price I'm willing to pay on eBay, but nothing so far (and I have to see if my PayPal account still works before I go shopping there!).

Good luck to all in their hunting! I've found a LOT of nice bargains ($18.50 for a huge Atlantis set at Kmart, normally $49.99, and Ninjago spinner card sets for $2.50, normally $9.99) but not that one item I was hoping for. :confused3

My Target shows limited stock but I'll check when I head over there later tonight. I know the feeling of trying to keep the belief going a little longer!

I found it tonight....Will send you a PM to see if you still need it.

Thank you so, SO much! :worship: I just PM'd you about shipping costs (sent you my address in case you need it to figure out how much it will be) and I'll send you out a USPS money order once I know how much and where to send it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! DD and DS will be happily surprised when they open it Christmas morning!!!

So happy you are going to get it!! Wonderful people here on the DIS!! I feel your pain however. DS has decided that he just has to have this lego set he saw in his Lego Star Wars encyclopedia. Unfortunately, it was released in 2003 and is going for about $500 on ebay!!! His response...Santa can get it. Ugh! Looks like he will have to be disappointed this year!!

My DD (10) also loves to build as well. The new "Friends" sets that are coming out next year are NOT what I would have liked in a girls line. What is wrong with REAL sets with REAL minifigs for GIRLS!??!?

DD is getting a Creator house, some Harry Potter sets, and the Marina City set for Christmas. Oh, and some Hero Factory. She loves playing with her brothers, and never has her own figures...so I went ahead and bought her some of the new ones and tracked down the girl HF (Breez) from the earlier line.

Out of curiosity, what set?:confused3

I'm glad you found it. I went to the Super Target first and literally one half of the entire lego side was gone. There was a little bit of the city stuff that is on sale this week on endcaps, but it was an entirely cleaned out aisle. I took a picture of it, I just couldn't believe it.

But I looked at both stores, and they were both out.

Has anyone seen the new spongebob and dc comics ones? I bought my son 2 of the batman/catwomen/wonder women sets.

I bought so many others 3 spongebob, city corner, tru truck that I need to walk away from the legos. The new spongebob flying dutchmen and bikini bottom birthday party are calling my name:rotfl2:

but yes... some have been selling out. I can tell you tru is not usually the cheapest place even with the bogo going on.. they just marked so many of them up last week.

He wants either Jabba's palace or Jabba's sail barge. I've seen them as low as about $250, but that is still WAY too much for legos!!

I feel your pain. I am in the same boat as you but with the older retired Harry Potter sets.

Were the spinner cards at Kmart too? That's an awesome price! My DS is really into ninjago after getting a Ninjago book this month with his scholastic book order. Thankfully he hasn't asked for a dragon! I got him the ninjago bowling set from TRU already.

Kmart did have the spinner cards (the ones that are always on the pegs), but all they had were Bonesai and one of the other skeleton-type guys. They were cheap, though, so I picked up one of each. They will make great stocking stuffers! :thumbsup2

I'm hoping to hear from the person who found the Ice Dragon - I did PM you, so if you didn't get it please post here and I'll send my info again. :)

I confess. I bought 2 to sell on ebay, but they aren't going for enough to make it worth the hassle, so let me know if the other poster doesn't get back to you. They weren't on sale, though-- $19.99. Where do you live? Maybe you are close to me and we wouldn't have to ship.

Good news is that a new version of Jabba's Palace will be released in May.
