Anyone having second thoughts about BLT?

I can understand the concerns. We will not be adding on any additional points until I see if DVC will take seriously the concerns expressed to them by the "current" membership about issues at the resorts now open.

If all DVC is going to focus on is expansion and sales, and let the existing membership suffer and those resorts, I will soon be selling what I have.

They have to improve the current housekeeping service and other issues as well.

I know you just came back from a great hhi trip- we added on 100 at hhi after our 1st trip and it was a very cheap way to add-on. In order to keep your costs down it is important to get the seller to pay all the closing fees because they are $$$ for HHI because SC law requires an attorney for closing. Anyway- when it was all said and done- I got 100 point contract with all points in tact (exactly as I would have gotten from DVC) for under 67 pp- total. The MFs are in line with BWV- they aren't too bad - especially if it is a smallish contract. I love my HHI points.

Ideally, if $$ were no object, I'd want points at BCV, BLT & HHI, in addition to the AKV I've already got- guess it's time to hit that lottery!!!

I was thinking about buying too. But lately I have been wondering about another issue with BLT and maybe some of you may be able to help with some imput.

When I went to college I stayed at a 12 floor dorm. Sometimes I would have to wait forever for the elevator to pick me up. Then when it did, it took another "forever" for it to stop at several floors.

I don't want to spend my vacation time waiting on an elevator. Is Disney good with this issue at other locations? I usually stay at "open resorts" (i.e. CBR, POR, SSR, OKW).

Yes. We do this and have never had a problem.

The only problem would likely be room view, or a room a BWV,BCV, or VWL during Christmas or Easter.

We are not buying at BLT. It will be a nice resort, but we are happy with SSR and AKV that we own now. Also, originally I wanted 1000 points, buy I think at 735 we are good. I will take my chances at 7 months, or do a direct trade with one of my other timeshares.

I think we've come to the same conclusion, happy with our DVC point total.

Everyone really enjoyed our Marriott stay(so my BLT money may go to them, or perhaps I'll buy in WLR like you ).

I can't believe I'm going to say this but, I am second guessing the decision to buy at BLT. With all the rumors of price and point charts, I'm getting cold feet. On the other hand, I've been waiting for this since 93 when we bought at OKW. We've only added on once, in 93 believe it or not, and have been waiting for a monor rail resort.Now with the waiting game and rumors, I'm thinking maybe not. If we don't, we might just do a small add on at our first love OKW, and take our chances at 7 months.We will wait for the announcement to get the details before deciding.

Yea, kind of second guessing BLT because it was to be a smaller add on and the new ressie rules may impact that-thinking more BCV points instead.

We have 175 pts at SSR now and I would love to add on with BLT. However, if the points are too high, then we will just have to add on somewhere else. We have never stayed at our home resort and have never had any trouble getting a reservation at 7 months. In a few days we are staying at AKV's. We have stayed at BCV and this October we will be at BWV's. OKW is currently our favorite. Once we get to see what all the resorts have to offer us, we will probably decide to add on at one of the older resorts unless there are some realy big incentives to buy at BLT.

My initial reservations with BLT still hold--it looks like a very large resort hotel you might find on Waikiki beach. This resort seems like it will have more of a high-rise hotel feel, and while that may be alluring to some, I would much rather have the "resort" feel of the other locations. Give me OKW any day!

It's not so much that I'm second guessing my planned purchase. I've always said I need to see the numbers and the actual product first. There's room in our portfolio for another 70 points. What that buys me is the question.

My plan was to use that 70 points as "mad money" and stay 3 days at other resorts. We do love SSR so much we're happy just being there. BWV and BCV don't tempt us as much due to their age and lacking accessible amenities. AKV just seemed too remote and too themed to be a home. BLT has the location and all the other extras.

I'm not that intimidated by the elevator because my beach condo is on the 9th floor. Really the only downsides to BLT are cost and decor. I do have a budget for the add-on. Exceed that and we won't buy. The decor has to be something we don't loathe.

So it's more "we'll see".

We were waiting for BLT so we could become DVC owners finally. Well, time passed and I now have a 120pt contract at SSR that I'm sending in the check for tomorrow. When I looked at the prices of resales at SSR, I couldn't resist, and I think that amount of points will fit us perfectly (planning every other year for a week, but I have a feeling we'll add on sooner than later).

As for buying into BLT, I don't know if I have the financial fortitude to do it.

We were all gung ho to buy into BLT as well but got tired of waiting and added on at SSR instead. I'm not sure what the reasoning is for the way Disney has handled BLT with all of the blatant denial of its existence (gee we aren't idiots) but it has surely backfired on them somewhat in my opinion.

Eventually I would love to own a few points at BLT but it won't be for several years to come at this point. I'm happy with our 2 contracts at SSR for awhile.

The waiting game has probably saved me some considerable cash. If the announcement had come in July, I was ready to buy. But with more time to wait and re-consider what I MOST want to do with my disposable income right at this moment, it's looking like DVC is getting put on the back burner for a little while longer for us. Who knows....by the time they actually announce I may feel differently, but if it came out today I wouldn't be rushing in.
