Anyone have the Mobile Data Sharing from AT&T?

I just saw this commercial on t.v. and started doing some research. It looks like it will cost us about the same amount, but will offer much more data. My kids and husband have the smallest amount of data. I know they are careful with it, but it never seems to be enough. We're not in a position to just pay more to give them more data, but if it's going to cost the same, I wanted to explore it.

Anyway, I was curious if anyone was on this plan. The site says "additional fee per device", but doesn't go into detail. I was fiddling around with adding it, and it doesn't break down price before I actually hit accept. I will lose my ability for the 4GB by doing the change, so wanted to know the cost ahead of time.

I think I'm considering the 6GB plan, with four smartphones. I thought I'd ask away here, since I don't have time to spend on hold waiting to talk with a rep today.

TIA

We switched to the share plan when they first offered it. We also had the minimum - 200 MB per phone so I drove my kids crazy about using data while not on wifi. We switched, and it lowered our bill about $9 per month to go with the shared 10 GB! I think the most we use is about 2 GB because I trained em to not use it :)

Looks to me like the 6GB plan is $90/month + $35/smartphone. So for 4 smartphones and 6GB data, it would be $230/month. Unless I'm not understanding correctly. Our contract is up on the 20th, so I've been shopping around . . .

We have this. If you have four phones, like we have, it will be exactly the same to have 4 smartphones and 4 mb of data as it will to have 4 phones and 2 mb of data (the cost per phone goes up if you have a lower data plan, and the higher the data plan, the more that costs -- at 2 and 4, it completely evens out). We thought we would need so much more until we actually looked at it -- we use less than 2 per month between the four of us. Buy the lowest amount you think you can get away with, and increase if you find you're going over. And actually, it worked out to be about the same amount we were paying on AT&T's old rate plan, but this way I can use my phone as a mobile hotspot my WiFi only tablet (if I can figure out how to do that...).

Thank you all!

Yes, It should be around $230, which is basically what we are paying now for the four Smartphones and a hotspot option.

That's a great idea about choosing the lowest amount. I guess I can up that amount at any time, for no charge. I think I read it's $15 per GB if you go over. I assume that's per account, not per phone!!

I like the idea that we could all use our iPhones to tether and make hotspots, as needed. All of our iPads are wifi only, so that would be nice. It kind of confused me with their wording about hotspots/tethering and which phones would offer which. I'm hoping an iPhone would have the included hotspot/tethering.

So, it sounds like nobody here has to pay an additional charge per line?? Just what is listed in their chart (ie $90 plus the $35 per phone). The wording was very ambiguous about the additional line charge, which would just increase my bill and not make it worth it.

Thanks for all of your thoughts! None of use use a whole lot of data, but I never really thought about how little data the other three lines have right now. It does train the kids right, though:goodvibes
