Anyone have success booking VGF at 7 months?

Hi! I'm the OP, back with an update.

Our 7 month window opened this morning. I was on the computer at 8 and was able to book a 1 BDR SV for March 22-28. We're so excited! :cool1:

Thank you to everyone who posted their experiences!
Congrats!!! Have a wonderful trip!!!! :yay:

In February we could have booked GFV for our first DVC stay at the 7 month (minus 2 days) mark for numerous room types for 9/21-9/25. But DW wanted BLT due to the path to MK. I'm thinking we should have just booked GFV- who knows if we'll ever get a chance to stay there in the future. :confused3

This is so discouraging! My DH and I are planning a trip by ourselves in May to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We actually honeymooned at the Grand Floridian, so it's a little dream of mine to be able to stay there...but it's looking less and less likely!

Why oh why did they start allowing 5 people in a studio?! It's making it so hard for couples who really only need a studio to get one, since now families of 5 are able to squeeze into a studio for less points than a 1 bedroom.

I don't mean to whine...we are very lucky to be DVC members and are happy to stay almost anywhere! Since we are planning to do the Flower and Garden festival, we are hoping to try Beach Club (never stayed there before!) if we can't get GF. :)

If we're at Disney we're happy.

Did you read all of the responses? As you can see, I had no problem with acquiring a studio for a 7 night reservation starting with Memorial Day weekend this year - under the 6 month mark. While I do understand more points have been sold, I still think you have a great chance. I also have been able to obtain 3 consecutive nights in a studio for the first week of December - which is all I will go because of the high point cost - a time which has the highest occupancy for DVC. :cutie:

We got a lake view studio for Sept 6-13 right at the 7 month mark, so we are here now :)

I'm definitely worried about getting studios in the future for a week in Oct-Nov.

Would imagine that this is a GREAT time to vac at WDW! :goodvibes

Am I correct that there are LOW crowds as the kiddies are back at school?:confused3 If this is your first time at VGF, what are your impressions so far?
Staying at VGF 2 nights this Dec! CANNOT WAIT!:santa: Thanks!:goodvibes

Put it this way:

Yesterday's afternoon wait times-
Space mountain 5 minutes
BTMRR 10 minutes
Splash mountain walkon, didn't break stride from beginning of queue to stepping in the boat.

Today's wait times at 10am (park opened at 9)-
Test track 20 minutes
Soarin 5 minutes

I actually took a picture of the soarin entrance. Haven't seen that at 10 am in years.

September rules for park visiting, except for the humidity.

We stayed in a 1br in July for 8 nights, and loved the resort, it may be our favorite non-home resort. If not for monorail issues due to upgrade schedule, it would've been a perfect vacation. Hopefully by December the schedule will be back to normal. i would say it was a perfect resort if they had the extra bathroom. But that is a minor inconvenience. The staff was great and loved having the check in desk right down stairs.

We called at 7 months out for a studio for a the week of March 29th to April 4th. At that time we could have had either standard or lake view. We chose lake view. Called a little late but during the first hour (during a layover in Dallas) . Delightfully surprised about no waiting for a MS CM. Even more pleased with the resort and our room. Definitely want to go back to try a 1 bedroom.

Not to be a wet blanket but booking VGF now at the 7 month window is a little different than doing it months ago. Disney declared 75% of rooms available right off the bat. So when only a small percentage of the resort was sold and a high percentage available it was easier. Studios have been almost impossible to get at 7 months recently with 1 and 2 bedrooms much easier. Because it is such a small resort, as it continues to sell out it will be more difficult to book at 7 months. Some believe that the demand will decrease because right now the resort is the new kid on the block. I am not in that camp. Though there will be a slight decrease do to people having tried it, I feel it will be more than offset by the greater number of owners that can book at 11 months. People that booked 7 months ago when the resort was 30% sold out at 75% declared had a greater chance. Obviously the time of the year you are looking to go is your biggest factor in handicapping your chances along with type of accommodations. Very best of luck!! The.villas are AWESOME!!

This is exactly why we did this now. With a studio (since the kids are small still) instead of a 1bedroom aslo because we knew we would use TIW adn eat out around the monorail resort loop.

I was able to book a 1 BR at VGF for mid October of this year at 7 months with no problem, although I didn't waste any time making the reservation.

I was able to get a standard view studio last January.
Loved it!
Would like to try again!!

Looks like an AWESOME resort! :cool1:Were you happy with your studio?:confused3 Did you overlook the monorail?
Can't wait!:santa:Thanks!

I booked a 2 bedroom SV at the 7 month window for 3 nights in Jan 2015 over MLK Jr weekend.
